Can one of the mods change the thread title to "Klitschko fan quote of the week" and save me a job?

    Thanks in advance.

Mike Tyson had 10 world title fights , unified all the belts, and in a 12 month span defended his title 6 times was still only 23 years old.

Over his career he fought 12 different world champions or former world champions and 16 times for the heavyweight title

basically it brings me to this...are you just an idiot to not take in to an account quality of opposition?

Vitali has fought "4" former or current world champs fought

Sanders (if we are really counting WBO)
    Lewis
    Chris Byrd
    Sam Peter

chew on that for a few minutes :hi:

To any realistic fan that not american he can be #1 ATG. but to americans he can be the last after the american fighters, because he is not american.

I could read someone saying that either Klit belongs in the top 20, without writing that person off as a total idiot.

I might not agree, but I wouldn't put that person on my mental 'ignore list'.

I think people lose perspective of just how long and deep the history of the Heavyweight division is.

Dude, your post could describe the storied career of the great Larry Holmes. He came after Ali and really had no big names to fight against. Jello-jawed Ken Norton who was crushed by Shavers, Cooney and Foreman took him life and death. He fought a bunch of rubbish fighters but because of his long-term dominance and 7 year title reign he is in most boxing historians top 10. You don't need to fight seminal opposition to be considered an alltime great. As you deftly implied, that's just not fair to the champion. Vitali can't control the quality of his opponents but he can control his own destiny and he is an awesome force of nature and a great champion. Good grief, the guy came back from horrifically complicated back surgery and debilatating knee problems to dominate the number 2 top heavy in Sam Peter. He now just whipped another young, in shape lion and is begging Haye to fight him. Vitali is a true warrior.

    ^^ This.

A lot of people lose perspective of just how long and deep the history of boxing is, and how many great and talented boxers there have been...no matter what weight class. I'm by no means qualified to say how great these guys were, but I have read up and watched a lot of tapes from the past, and I can say in my opinion, a lot of these modern greats achievements CAN be overrated.
