What if Vitali got the younger, in-shape, and active version of Corrie Sanders instead of the aging, out-of-shape, and inactive Sanders? Who would win this fight?

Vitali was always better than Sanders. Maybe Sanders makes it the distance, but he doesnt win.

Prime Sanders is second only to Sugar Valuev. He kos Vitali and Lewis in the same night. He almost did as it is well documented that his shadow boxing across the world..actually caused the gashes to Vitali and Lewis's faces during their famous title bout.

An in shape Sanders would give him problems. That was probably the hardest he was ever hit when they fought.

Hard to say - as Corrie was never all that good - but if they 38 year old version had eaten two fewer bags of donuts and foregone a case or two of brew in his training camp he would have finished Vitali in that 1st round - when he made him retreat, flail, flinch, cover, panic, run, and eventually fall.

I like Vitali to win his chin takes that fast left hook ,he might do a little dance, but remains upright, and then he breaks the Golfer down.

I think Sanders is getting a little underrated round here, not only has he starched the no1 HW of the past 7years, he also put Vitali down and hurt him. I still think Vitali wins a prime for prime match up as Sanders never had great conditioned and was always a bit of a front runner but he probably makes it competitive over the first half of the fight even being ahead at that stage

Prime Sanders has a better chance of winning but you still have to favour Vitali here. He did beat an old Sanders, though not without trouble, and he's by far the more accomplished fighter.

One thing I was surprised by is that Vitali couldn't seem to really hurt Sanders.

It was ruled a slip, but I watch that fight, and Vitali seems the most beatable champion in heavyweight history, he just has no adaptive skills to pressure. He cant even hold and tie up all that well. It just amazes me noone can figure that out. Sanders probably does have a better chance if he could sustain a similar attack as he did in round 1.

Improved 100%, he has adopted that same strategy you saw Lewis using once he had a few fights under Steward. Hes good at clinching and using his size to lean on the top of his opponents. In a grueling fight a 250 pound man leaning on you saps your energy very quickly, especially if that opponent is not in top shape. Lewis used this tactic a lot and Vitali just looks so clueless when hes pressure correctly.

Agreed LeftHook. Vitali does look extremly lost in round 1-2 vs Sanders, when Sanders pressured him. Pity sanders was so out of shape, by round 3 he was drained. Just imagine if Vitali have been in there with an All time Great pressure fighter, who can sustain that workrate for 15 rounds..he would be finished.
