Hello Boxing Fans, it´s Superheavyweight Showtime! I don´t think we´ve had these giants before. The man who knocked Louis outside the ring against the man who did never fall.
You don't get this. The argument was never that fighters like Buddy Baer wee as good as Vitally Klitschko or better. The argument is that fighters like Buddy Baer, should have done a lot better against Joe Louis, if better fighters with the same attributes and game plan were going to beat him!
But Baer dropped Louis outside the ring. As did Two Ton Galento, who dropped him inside. What´s that history worth in context of modern H2H-comparison?
Neither Buddy or Tony would win a round vs Vitali. Its a mis-match. The fact that they had their moments in flooring Joe Louis in all honesty suggests the more skilled punchers could do the same. A better match up would Buddy Bear vs Two Ton Galento, which in fact happened and was won by Buddy Bear.
Tall slugger with leaky defense and low ring iq vs veteran boxer with a granite chin, high stamina and volume punching=targer practice for Vitali. Other than a slight reach advantage and possibly more explosive force and snap in his punches, Buddy has absolutely nothing over Vitali. It might end up looking like vitali vs briggs and it would be very ugly with buddy swinging for the fences and showing incredible courage but unable to land a clean shot. He might clip vitali a few times, but he had underrated defense and recovery. His height also allows him to see the punches coming and sway or roll with them. The most success Buddy has is winning the 1st round with his sheer aggression and power against a confused cautious vitalis whose never seen a man that size carry that much power and awkwardness. Vitali puffs up and bruises buddys face within 4 rounds and flattens him in the 5th. He tees off on a stationary buddy whose covered in blood, sweat, and dirt before the ref waves it off for taking too many unanswered punches. Not exactly the shootout slugfest the crowd was looking for.
Vitali onesided UD/Late KO Maxie better not hear about it though, or Vitali might be the one finally asking Wlad to protect him
I'll go ahead and give you the answer you're fishing for.....Buddy Baer stops him in a one sided massacre. Not even close!
Vitali is then carried from the ring on a stretcher and neck brace whilst twitching. A priest is by his side.
