Be interesting for Vitali having to face someone who could actually fight a bit. Holyfield is a much better boxer but Klit has that immense size which greatly negates Holyfields superior skill level. It'd be close.

It was a great performance over a mediocre fighter who'd got lucky as opposed to a great performance against a great fighter.

If Lewis was coming off a win against a prime Tyson or a prime Bowe then thats different, but he was coming off a dominat win off a guy he shouldnt have lost to in the first place

Beating a somewhat limited fighter doesnt make one 'prime' again.

Sure it does. Lewis was a prime fighter for a very long time that got pasted by two fighters that in my opinion he took to lightly the first time around.

Lewis was and is a laid back dude for the most part. He often fought in a laid back type of style whereby he held back his intensity. One can claim this as a "WEAKNESS" as there is truth to it, however, so what?

So his CHIN was not as great as Ali's, Louis, Holyfield, Tyson and Bowe to name but a few ?????

Big deal. The fact is Lewis was so great he could win big fights with only a good chin. Yes, when he took a opponent too lightly he could and did get pasted twice so hard he did not get back up. However, what do the GREATs do when that happens? They "REMATCH" is what they do and they then come back with PRIME FOCUS in those "REMATCHES" which is what Lewis did.

Personally, I think Lewis's win over Vitali was a awesome performance by LL. I don't ever recall another fighter giving Lewis so much trouble right from round 1 for so many consecutive rounds. Lewis was loosing that fight against Vitali and had been hurt a few times as well until he does what "great-champs" do, he cranks up his FOCUS, goes to war and a few rounds later Vitali's face looks like a train wreck and the ref stops it. Lewis hit Vitali with some HUGE shots after he recovers from the first couple of rounds. Amazing that Vitali took them so well. Was Lewis still in his "PRIME" at and before the time he fights Vitali ?? I don't think so. Was Lewis still pretty damn great overall when he fought Vitali?

    Why yes he was.

Lennox took many flush right hands from Vitali ,only one appeared to bother him early on. Either Lennox's chin was not too bad or Vitali's power was overated.I go for a bit of both, but with the accent on the latter.

Vitali would score a lop-sided decision, possibly a shut-out, over Evander.

Lewis was 37 and he decided to RETIRE at 38. Shortly after Vitali brutalized Kirk Johnson and called him out on TV with that deranged smile on his face :yep

Anyway Vitali takes this by clear decision. Vitali keeps range, outmuscled Holyfield if and when he gets inside, and clubs him numerous times with the right hand. Holy possibly goes down one or two times but I doubt he gets stopped. This is a 250lb animal who can box with a granite chin. Holyfield gets beat

And I'll ad that the Rahman rematch was nearly two years before the Klitschko fight. By the time Lewis met Klit, he had been out of the ring for 12 months, was at a career high weight and was 37 years of age.

Right of the bat.... I chatted with Vitali right before the Lewis fight face to face for about ten minutes while he still was on the lewis undercard...........all what he wanted to talk was fighting Lemmie........he definitely was mentally prepared to face Lewis.

The problem with VK is that he does not throw short hooks and real uppercuts, he is a range fighter because of his height and that leads him having very poor inside or close range artillery.

Lewis jumped on VK and made him fight up close.........Holyfield would do the same and on the inside would get rarely tagged seriously......Bowe on the other hand with his nasty hooks or uppercuts was a big problem for Holy. Evander also would work the body and I think that would be on of VK's weak points. Vitali also does not clinch, another plus for Holyfield.

It depends which Holyfield shows up, he was rather inconsistant sometimes but on top of his game he will outhustle VK.
