Vitali destroys him. No question. Rahman's entire career, his entire claim to fame, rests on a single lottery punch.

Vitali wanted to get into politics and had just tried and failed to make it through training camp several times in a row. His body was giving out on him. All of this was common knowledge back when he retired.

    1. The WBC was going to strip him anyways, because he couldn't be ready in 3 months.

    2. He had just had back surgery, and knee surgery.

    3. He wanted to run for office.

He was simply at a point in his life where it made more sense to retire, than it did to continue wasting time and money trying to train, only to injure himself and have to undergo surgery. I am sure that he was not to confident that even if he waited 6 months... that he would have been able to make it through a training camp. The last thing he would want to do is have to pull out of yet another scheduled fight.

You act like he went into hiding until Rahman lost or something. Rahman had already been knocked out by Maskaev 8 months after Vitali retired. Vitali didn't come back for 3 years. He had about 4 years in between fights from his last before retirement until his comeback fight.

He also put himself through training before making his comeback to make sure that his body would be able to handle it.

Is there some idiotic hater on here that actually thinks Rahman retired Vitali??? :huh :nut

Get some help, and fast :-(

Vitali has had a great career, would have destroyed any of the old ATGs. Only two modern ATGs - LL or his brother - may be better.

Vitali never had the 1-punch KO power of Oleg. :nono

Rahman from 1998-2008 wasn't someone who got worn down by heavy handed attrition fighters. He was someone who got obliterated by huge punchers. (something Vitali has never been, despite his percentage of stoppages)

Also, Big O scored a KO1 over Vitali in the amateurs. :deal

Putting a drained guy against felix Savon is wanting your brother to get hurt BAD.

Savon oneshotted a 19 year old David Tua... A drained Wlad would be murdered.

Wlad fought at Heavyweight and he said it himself it was hard for him to make the weight but he could not fight at Superheavyweight, his brother was fighting at Superheavyweight. Only one fighter in every class for one country.

After Vitali was tested positiv Wlad could fight at Superheavyweight, he becomes Vitali´s contract at Flensburg and he fought at Superheavyweight at the olympics and won gold.
