Kirk Johnson scaled 260lbs for that fight and he was never anything anyway. Solis came into the ring with a knee injury which promptly gave out on him.

Vitali's best ko scalp is Herbie Hide. That does not qualify him as a great puncher.

Vitali is more of a heavy, consistent puncher, that methodically does a LOT of damage over the course of a fight (while using distance and body sway to minimize the effects of incoming punches) than a single shot KO artist. That's actually WORSE for JJ imho, because a genuine big puncher often leaves himself open for the counter when trying to roll that double six, whereas Vitali rarely leaves himself in a position to get countered badly.

Very astute of you. Correct. Vitali can box, slug or counter, mostly on his terms and is very smart.

    >>>I could argue that Vitali has a top 5 AGT defense at heavyweight. Even better than Johnson who's over rated.

Vitali makes his man miss, has good reflexes, excellent anticipation, moves his head, moves his feet, and has a counter shot + he fights smarts and has the rare ability to land at various angles..even on the move.. There is a reason why he's never lost more than two consensus rounds in 47 pro fights!

I think now I have heard it all....Vitali has a better defense than Jack Johnson. Just when I think things have sunk as low as they can go someone else throws another nugget into the fire.

Vitali methodically beats Johnson down into a form of jelly, or pudding.

This would have all the hallmarks of a fight between, a amateur and a professional.

Vitali will enjoy Johnsons parries as he smashes past them into Johnson eyes, which began to swell into base*****.
Soon after Vitalis right cross splits Johnsons mouth, and Jonson would be swallowing his own blood.
Not Long after Vitalis work rate and body attack would have Johnson puking it all up in between rounds.
By round 4 , Johnson will look like a Zombie, stumble bumming all over the ring and being battered like a an abused dog.

Still Johnson will stay on his feet till round 5 due to his ATG abilities of absorbing blow after blow.

But, Vitali finally turns Johnsons lights out with a furious assault, that Johnson cant see due to the Base***** over his eyes, and then collapses due to the blood loss.

    Good fight.

Ths assumes Vitali doesn't sustain a damaged arm and quit.

We know Johnson would gut it out,and continue with a broken one.:yep

Johnson quit in two fights without an injury and was booed in many for just playing defense.

Thing is, for such a physical fighter, JJ is going to have a hell of a time trying to maul and shove VK around. If he can't wear him down in close, what are his options? Try to box Vitali at range? That will not work out well, in my opinion. I think the toughness of Vitali, his awkward style and especially the extra weight of muscle he brings to the ring, are going to be decisive factors. JJ could still go the distance, because he was a defensive master ... but that would mean, imho, that he would parry and run most of the night and basically give up any chance of winning.

I don't see this as an out fight as many posters do.

I think Vitali will look very slow against the extremely quick for his size Johnson. Johnson was much smaller, but he wasn't exactly tiny at over 200 lbs. in his prime and looking at film, my take is his reflexes will be in another world from Vitali.

I see the fight going somewhat like the Vitali-Byrd fight, with Vitali missing and missing. The question is can and will Johnson make him pay. Perhaps. He showed against Willard when 37 and far past it that he could carry a fight to a much bigger man.

Vitali is immense and very well-schooled, but unlike Wlad, he is rather slow and Johnson should be able to block and duck those long, slow punches.

I favor Vitali at about 7-5,

but as I said at the start, this is not to me an out fight. Johnson could win this one.

One question you have gone 7-5 vitali
Would an extra 3 rounds make any difference

    I meant 7-5 odds.

The longer the fight is scheduled for, the better it is for Johnson. Vitali certainly seemed to run out of gas against Byrd, and Johnson appears to have been a stamina freak.

Willard outlasted him, but he was 37 and not in the best of shape for that one.

Haha that's me feeling daft but at least someone agrees with me that a 15 round fight would be something in favour of Johnson
