Vitali by lopsided decision, It's irrelevant how much Toney weighed, he wasn't a HW. he was physically too small. He didn't have the frame that could make him effective against the super giant HW's. Smaller HW's he could skate by, the bigger one's nah. Vitali wouldn't land much clean, but he'd definitely win a decision.
I tend to agree with Northpaw. As brilliant defensively as Toney was, he's still got to try land something at some point. And that's when Vitali's size really starts to count. I've never been a huge Toney fan, but let's give him props and say that he should never have been anywhere near heavyweight, and the fact that he was competitive at a weight he was quite unsuited for, speaks volumes for his quality as a fighter. Vitali is simply a bridge too far, that's all.
Too far of a reach advantage with intelligent giants. They might not have the quickest release, but they can clinch rather quickly. What Peter did in fight 2 against JT was a bit of proof. Meaning Peter didn't accommodate and inside fight and he isn't the brightest ring general. If The fight occurred? They would've been far more successful than Peter & Rahman.
Holyfield was once asked how Toney would do against Tyson,,he responded " Mike would kill him". Vitali would too just not as quickly
Vitali would win every second of every round. 120-108 in an uneventful fight. Toney couldn’t even out box Sam Peter
I see this going very similarly to the Byrd fight, with Vitali landing less rights and more jabs. Toney would win maybe 3 rounds to 9, with his defence making Vitali feel uncomfortable. Another similarity is the fact that I can only see a Toney win based on Vitali injuring himself.
Toney actually thoroughly outboxed Peter in their first fight. He was robbed. Watch it and tell me otherwise
