    I stand corrected.

But he didn't stand up to the shot of Lewis. He fell apart at the seams and lasted the same number of rounds as glass chinner Tommy Morrison did. And the Duke was in with a far greater version of Lewis.

You can't say he took the only sold punch Sanders landed on him well , running around like you're being chased like a pack of dogs after being hit is NOT taking a hit very well.

The Hide fight was over after 4 mins and he landed nothing same as Peter. Purrity was shut out. Vitali took next to nothing.

Vitali's career isn't what iron chins are made of. You're being dishonest with yourself.

dino he did take them for 6 rounds, theres no arguing with that.

its a good chin, as good as any guy who lasted around 6 rounds with lennox eg minor titlist frank Bruno, brit champ gary mason, minor and short term titlists tommy Morrison, mike weaver etc.

but theres no proof its great.

The argument here isn't that its good. Its that he has a genuine ATG chin and he simply does not. You can't go around calling people great when they are not great.

Povetkin has a greater chin than Vitali. A much greater chin and the proof is on film.

Battered by Huck. Rocked hard by Chaggy. Chewed up Chambers sharp , precise counters for breakfast.

Took flush right hands from Wlad that sent most of his foes to sleep. Took em for 12 rounds.

Walked through flush right hands from Tackam and Wach.

Vitali wouldn't walk through the shots of feather duster Chisora and was on his bike for the whole night.

Where's Povetkin on the ATG chin list. Nobody ever mentions Povetkin. To say Vitali has a better chin than Povetkin is an absolute joke.

I never called Vitali Great and nor did I say his chin was one of ATG standing.. I think his chin is more than ENOUGH to handle Ken Norton as are many of his other attributes and I'll stick with that.

    probably, but possibly not.

guys like peters arreola and expecially shot2shyte 38 year old sanders who did way less than the first two, just aren't in the same league to Norton offensively.

He had a remarkable chin, bordering on ATG status, with only Chuvalos and McCall in front of him.

No one with even a passing knowledge of the sport would argue with that. You are, once again, entirely full of sh*t.

Thats total nonsense and you know it.

Wlad was a better puncher against Povetkin by a number of levels. Povetkin endured more hurtful shots by a bigger puncher for 12 rounds and was never all over the place like Vitali was.

And lets not forget that Lewis was the worst that ever entered the ring and was not firing on all pistons.

Povetkin has good whiskers but he was rocked by Huck and dumped repeatedly by Waldo.

Lewis, tho old, never lost his power. He hit Vitali with some gargantuan shots. The thing about Vitalis defense, such as it was, was that he relied on spacing and was overconfident in his ability to lean out of range. He ended up getting tagged a fair amount. He had to have a good chin to fight that way. As it turns out he had a great chin.

I am a huge Norton fan. He's my second favorite of all-time, after Foreman. Yet, when I envision this fight, I see Vitali outlasting him. Klitschko had big edge in durability. I hope I'm wrong, frankly.

Huck near fell over from punching an out of condition Povetin clean in the face for 12 rounds. And Povetkin never even went down.

When has Vitali ever sustained an attack like that? He never has.

TKO6 Lewis did not hit harder than Wlad no matter how you spin it. HE was slow , sloppy , exhausted and that reduces your ability to generate power.
Wlad hit Povetkin with a savage left hook , the same punch that rendered Pulev unconscious. Pov got up, barely hurt and kept coming till the final dong. His chin has stood up to a far more rigorous testing. Vitali has not. His iron chin status is based of very little.

If you want to label one guy for having an ATG from TKO6 , then it has to be Lewis , since he was forced to stomp forward , defenseless , blocking punches with his face in order to get the win.

The guy who held for dear life every time he got touched before being stopped doesn't get awarded as having one of the best chins in history. It doesn't work like that.

Norton beat Muhammad Ali and went 15 hard rounds with Larry Holmes, two of the best heavyweights who ever walked the earth, and he matched them jab for jab and punch for punch, round after round, fight after fight.

Norton had a longer reach than Vitali. I'm sure he'd match Vitali jab for jab and might even outjab him. Norton also threw a lot of punches and was very active (compared to the guys Vitali fought). And the right hand Norton hit Ali with in their first two fights was so "long" ... there are numerous occasions when Ali thought he was out of range but Norton's right hand still came over the jab and blasted him in the head. Norton could also loop the right hand over the top and do a lot of damage. And he had a great short left hook on the inside.

Vitali, on the other hand, was pretty one-dimensional. He also fought so many shorter, short-armed guys he threw very little that he rarely got hit in the face. His competition is pretty awful compared to Norton's.

Frankly, anyone who could jab with Vitali could hang with him, which is probably why you can count the guys Vitali fought who had great jabs on a couple fingers. The Klitschkos (both of them) also seemed to hesitate a lot on those rare occasions when they fought people who punched them back. And a guy with a good jab would have his glove in Vitali's face all night.

I picked Norton by decision - if the fight was held over 12 rounds. It would be a jabbing contest at the start. And it would heat up in the middle rounds. We saw Norton, time and time again, really turn it up in the late rounds. In fact, if the fight was scheduled for 15, I might even take Norton to stop Vitali late - on cuts or simply by making him quit.

    But Norton by decision.
