Vitali Klitschko vs Ken Norton

Goo's a good poster tho and i always expect him to make fine points for whatever stance he is taking on a particular topic, even when i may or may not agree. He's very impartial, takes note of what others (worth following) say and puts a lot of thought into his work.

 

Vitali was a ripped 250lb fighter who knew how to fight tall and who routinely used body sway and footwork to avoid the punches of his opponents. He had no problems fighting off the back foot and punishing an attacking opponent with his very accurate jab. Likewise he could seamlessly switch to offense and used his straight punching to carve through an opponents guard. His "arm punches" ensured that he rarely gave away his balance and left himself open to counters. He had an ATG chin and extremely high KO percentage despite said "arm punches". He was able to brawl as the situation required it.

Norton never beat anybody like that, either :deal

Why does he have an ATG chin? Because he got stopped? I already shot your argument to bits on this and you had no reply. NONE.

Mike Tyson's ghost showed more durability against Lewis than the best ever version of Vitali.

This chin is not ATG. Not anywhere close to it. It was average at best. And thats not my opinion. Its a fact backed up by irrefutable anecdotal evidence.

So, was the fight stopped on - dare I even say it - a cut .... or (assuming I watched the right fight, because on Dino's planet things are all backwards) did Vitali get lol-KTFO by Lewis?

2) KO stoppage

You just don't get it do you? His reaction to the shots shows you all you need to know. He fell apart at the seams. His legs went. He was hanging on for his life. He was attached to Lewis like a mollusk.

He was staggered off a Lewis jab. His legs clearly buckled. Off A JAB.

Who else did Lewis stagger with a jab? Nobody.

Go watch Ziko Merovic eat and walk through a far worse barrage of punishment from Lewis and never go down , never lose his legs , never had to hang on for life. He went through DOUBLE of what Vitali went through.

TKO6 TWICE. In ONE fight. That is what Merovic sustained and never fell to pieces like Vitali did. Now tell me who has a better chin?

I'll answer for you. 210 pound Ziko had the better chin.

Lewis dropped Morrison with a jab. But Morrison's chin was pure glass , so i guess they are both in good company.

If Kenny freezes like he did vs big punchers, Vitali blows him away. I'm a Norton fan and think he's good enough to be a top 25 ATG at heavyweight based on accomplishments and head to head, but he just did not match up well with punches. His record shows us that, and he's giving up a lot of height, and weight.

Norton had a fan friendly engaging style, but he would need the opposite here to have a chance.
