Vitali Klitschko vs Mike Tyson FULL FIGHT WRITE UP

After witnessing Tyson’s three round annihilation of his brother Wladimir, Vitali has been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to exact revenge. Not only is he looking to dish out the same punishment to Mike he’s desperate to restore honour to the Klitschko name. It also doesn’t help that during the build up to this fight Kid Dynamite called Vitali robotic, stiff and a lumbering idiot who will get put to sleep just like his baby brother. Tensions came to a head during the weigh ins with Tyson’s camp continuing the verbal assaults and Wladimir finally snapping with an all out riot almost occurring had it not been for the extra security on hand. A lot of spite and needle is in this fight and the thought of losing is unfathomable to either boxer.

Looking at the tale of the tape the size difference is pretty profound you have the tallest boxer in this league in Vitali against the shortest fighter in Tyson. Mike is giving up a massive 9 inches in height, 30 lbs in weight and 9 inches in reach. Being the smaller man never phased Mike and he has honed a style of fighting perfectly attuned to his short powerful stature. Speed is heavily in favour of the American as is boxing skills, power is about even though Vitali has the higher KO ratio and is bigger he did fight mostly low calibre opposition. Vitali has a stronger chin having never hit the canvas in 47 fights, heart and size both favour the Ukrainian with stamina and ring IQ dead even. A real case of David vs Goliath but this time instead of a slingshot David is packing TNT in each fist.

With both fighters in the ring Mike stares up trying to intimate the bigger man, with Vitali towering over him the Ukrainian just glares back replaying the image of his brother getting knocked out, each time he goes over the KO in his mind an extra bit of rage bubbles up inside him.

The bell goes and Tyson comes storming out wasting no time with pleasantries or respect he knows it’s either kill or be killed and he’s firing in shots with real menace. Vitali is a little surprised at the ferocity and speed his opponent possesses and while trying to stay out of position and keep things at a distance with his jab Mike slips in and lands a hard left hook to the body, followed up with another left to the head and a right uppercut. Vitali is dazed and ties up his foe but the ref splits them up and Mike comes back in throwing some blistering combinations a string of three punches land and V. Klitschko is seeing stars before he can recover Kid Dynamite launches an atomic bomb of a left hook that denotates on the chin and Dr Ironfist is falls backwards to the floor the back of his head bouncing off the canvas sickeningly. Tyson’s celebrating believing there’s no way anyone could recover from such punishment but in the corner of his eye Vitali is slowly rising, shaking his head and is now well and truly pissed. Once fighting resumes Mike comes in looking for the finish but his opponent is too wily and keeps tying him up. The rounds end a clear 10-8 to the American.

In between rounds Vitali’s corner are urging him to take deep breaths and calm himself down, it’s only one round just don’t take any unnecessary risks in the second and slowly wear down the smaller man. The bell sounds and Mike comes out again looking to end the fight, unbeknownst to him Vitali has recovered and has made a couple of adjustments. The round consists of V. Klitschko constantly circling and using his jab to control the distance. Mike is still able to bob and weave into range and when up close fires some hard shots to the body, a nice large target he can’t miss. Vitali is also landing some nice rights and jabs that are already starting to disrupt Mike’s flow. Another clear round for Mike due to activity and landing some flashy shots.

Round 3-4 go the same way Tyson closing the distance and landing some powerful body shots and following it up with the odd blow to the head. Vitali’s awkward style and constant movement is making it hard to land anything too meaningful it also doesn’t help that every time Mike’s close enough Vitali seems to find the target with his sledgehammer right. A cut has opened up over Vitali’s right eye from a Tyson left hook and blood is starting to affect his vision. Mike is also feeling the effects of the hard rights with his left eye closing. Whenever they tie up Vitali’s bulk is starting to sap the energy from Mike’s strong legs.

Into round five and having fought at such a blistering pace while absorbing such huge blows is causing both fighters to slow. Tyson’s shots are not as hard or fast as they were earlier in the fight and Vitali is still throwing with real venom. A tough round for Mike who eats too many clean punches and is starting to feel the fight has swayed against him.

In between rounds Vitali’s corner have stopped the bleeding and with a big blob of Vaseline are hoping it doesn’t reopen. Tyson’s left eye is now fully closed and he’s simply fighting on instinct he comes out at the bell and goes for broke. Vitali simply keeps circling and when he sees his opening puts everything behind a overhand right that Mike doesn’t see coming. BOOM Tyson is knocked down, his mouth peace flies across the ring and it looks like its over. The ref is reluctant to wave the fight off until he is certain Mike is finished but like the true Spartan that he is Iron Mike gamely gathers himself and makes the count. Mouth peace back in he bites down and charges forward, V. Klistchko is prepared and within 20 seconds he lands a two more hard punches and Mike is down again. This time the ref has seen enough and waves the fight off.
