I think only if cuts there. However if you think about slow Valuev from most notable his fights, also a lot of boxers from current HW and CW might won him via wide UD. However I do not think that they might get him down even once. Valuev durability is most underestimated thing in boxing + he was large and tough as hell. Also undervalued thing is how slow he was in some notable fights, maybe slowest HW boxer ever. This also had prevented him to be more notable cos he was IRL very skilled. If you are so slow as he, then there it is what it is there.
Thanks Surrix you know more about Valuev than I. But did I read you right, you believe that he was very skilled? It seems to me his enormous size & chin are his main assets. Now how good his beard was-do we rreally know? When it was so hard to effectively reach it. It was very good indeed, but given how it was hard to reach him effectively, he took less punishment than most, so we cannot tell exactly how good.
more skilled than ppl usually think. Well, his size was his asset and also looks that curse. Looks that he had played basketball when he was young and there is reason cos he was damn large and tall. Most likely he was too slow ( I suspect ). Then he turned more into boxing, he was relatively late starter in boxing. He also looks that aged earlier than usually boxers are aging and turned from slow to even slower and further even more slower earlier than other boxers at HW. Dude was huge and tough, some boxers told that they felt like they had hit wall or oak when they punched this giant. Of course he also get enough high popularity cos his large size. Looks that he had fought in 12 countries, including Japan, South Korea, Australia, U.K, U.S, Germany, Switzerland, Czech Republic, then ofc in Russia, Belarus, Ukraine.
A cruiser Haye almost knocked Valuev out. Vitali would destroy the Russian Sasquatch by accumulation of damages to the prehistoric skull and to liver.
Ohh, you mean oldest and most slowest version of Valuev from fight vs Haye? 1. Doesn't matters these phrases " almost knocked him down ", actually rumors had been that after he had hit Valuev he needed treatment for his hands after fight and serious treatment. Also Valuev continued to walk smoothly after this. 2. While Haye had more power than a lot of earlier era and maybe even enough current era HW boxers. Ohh, yeah, rosa glasses and label crusierweight as curse. Haye at HW was 217-219 lbs dude usually and he had far more pop in his punches than a lot fo current and earlier era natural 220 lbers. While the same Povetkin was 222-224-225 lbs, very rarerly 228 lbs and is considered as HW not CW boxer. There damn a lot of HW boxers were smaller than Haye. While yeah, Haye was normal size for modern " puny " CW disrespected in forums as something weak or bad. Valuev from Haye fight did not had needed to be punched hard, he was so slow that you needed to score on him enough and move around enough fast. Such task I think might had done also Bellew, Okolie, Huck if in good shape, Briedis if in at least normal shape, Cunningham in good shape, etc boxers, also Makabu, Dorticos, etc a lot of enough mobile HW boxers ofc too. Prime Usyk ofc too, while yeah, I think Bellew and ofc Haye had more 1 punch power than he did had. Valuev had landed on Haye almost nothing + nothing really serious during 12 rounds, how he might had won decision? Ofc no. The Valuev from Holyfield fight too was very slow. a bit more mobile and if you land on his elbow, guard, even this isn't fun there. Earlier he was a bit more acitve, still very slow. He relatively early had turned into very slow boxer. Initially looks that was just slow, not for a long time.
Haye didn't come close to koing Valuev. Valuev stumbling after being hit by Haye was more off balance. Haye broke his hand hitting Valuev's head with his hardest punch saying it was like hitting a brick wall. The size of Valuev's head make it rock hard. In an interview When Valuev was being questioned on his boxing career and was asked which punches hurt the most his reply was "None of them hurt". Ask for Vitali Klitschko, there were less durable fighters that he didnt ko then Valuev so I cant see him koing Valuev.
At a certain point of the fight there was a sketch of chicken dance by Valuev that could become a KD or a KO imo
There was no chicken dance it was a moment of being off balance more then anything. For a guy his height being that tall has a higher center of gravity which can make it easier for them to get off balance. Valeuv was fine after that. Valuev has said in interviews none of the punches that the fighters landed on him hurt.
