A temple punch can fu-ck up your balance, looks like Solis has a glass head.

    Afolabi vs. Suda RBR

    Round 1

Ola jabs forward. Suda circles left and bobs side to side. Ola is the aggressor, with just his jab. Suda finally responds with his own jab. Ola is much busier with his, flipping it up into Suda's face. Suda is just pushing his out into Afolabi's chest but not reaching him, as they are pretty far apart and Afolabi is just using his long arms to jab from long range. Suda circles all the way around Afolabi and keeps his hands up by his face. Afolabi takes quick jab-steps toward him, but maintains a little distance. Suda dances off to his left, and leans away from an Afolabi hook. Afolabi keeps reaching out to try and jab Suda in the nose. Big height and reach advantage for the Nigerian Brit. Suda eats a flush backhand jab between his gloves and right between the eyes.

    10-9 Afolabi

Looked to me like a flash knockdown which caused a knee injury on the way down. The sort of knockdown a guy usually jumps up from. Disappointing, but... Klitschko KO1 Solis! I'll hand over to the chincheckers...

    Round 2

Afolabi keeps flicking his jab and starts to incorporate a right cross. Suda keeps hopping to his left and staying defensive. Afolabi tries his luck with a few left hooks to the ear, and some uppercut combos wading in. Hard slapping right hand to the shoulder by Afolabi. Suda is blocking a lot but getting completely out-boogied. Suda offers almost no offense. Afolabi reaches with a low left hook to get Suda backing straight up and then plows down the middle with a hard right hand. Good ring generalship by Afolabi. Suda keeps taking the bottom knuckles of Afolabi's right glove across the top of his head.

    20-18 Afolabi

    Round 3

Afolabi is ducking and sliding his way inside and working Suda over with nice rights to the body. Afolabi still also has the long whipping jab working up top. Nice left hook to the body by Afolabi in between a string of high jabs. Suda is looking a lot like an Abraham or Clottey, just stepping into the line of fire with his face guard and throwing nothing. Afolabi puts up his own forearms and pushes against him, and works the body. Nice counter uppercut by Afolabi as Suda tries to get a jab going. Suda tries a 1-2 but is throwing arm punches and Afolabi is turning into everything to let it just roll off his biceps.

    30-27 OA

    Round 4

The bridge of Suda's nose appears to be red, possibly broken. Afolabi comes forward with a nice straight and accurate 1-2. Double jab by Afolabi. Suda is still pretty inactive. Afolabi is digging some nice left hooks into the flesh just above Suda's trunks. Afolabi is in cruise control. Suda isn't taking a lot of clean headshots but that's all he can really claim.

    40-46 OA

    Round 5

Jim Watt suggests that Suda's body language indicates he "doesn't really believe in himself tonight."

They touch gloves. Afolabo immediately starts jabbing Suda in the face as soon as they retract. :yep Suda tries a quick left hook but Afolabi's jerky reflexes and feet are just a bit quicker. Afolabi is letting combos fly at Suda's head and trying to find openings either through, above, or around the back of his turtle shell. Suda is preserving his target areas well, but Afolabi is looking good and flashy, probably scoring and impressing the judges. Suda suddenly unleashes a triple left hook to the body, pretty nice. Unfortunately for him, his left eye bursts open with a HORRIBLE cut (from a brutal right uppercut scraping across his brow and tearing it) and it's stopped. :(

    TKO5 for Afolabi

According to Barry McGuigan, Afolabi has been giving Wladimir Klitschko"absolute nightmares in sparring". :think Johnny Nelson says OA has improved to become one of the best HW sparring talents in the world, FWIW. Of course, sparring is just sparring...but Afolabi did look really good in there until the stoppage (even though Suda didn't put up too much resistance until the very end).

BTW, Michael Sprott won his fight on points if anyone cares. They don't show highlights of the action, just a brief clip of Sprott's celebration after the decision announcement. That doesn't bode well for his performance. Both he and the opponent looked relaxed and unmarked. That isn't good. The opponent had been stopped 11 times in his 12 losses.

I'll say this for Suda -

He didn't exactly give a great account of himself, but he did a hell of a lot more than Solis in the main event.

Those hooks to the body he threw just before his eye got torn open were thrown with more vigor and bad intentions than anything Solis mustered in his three minute appearance.

I think Solis could learn from this loss. His bouncing style and in-out game puts a lot of pressure on his ankles. While he did show up lighter, 247 is still quite a lot of weight for a 6'1" fighter. (even with a big frame, it's too much)

Solis wasn't winning the round.. and IB, it was a legit shot to the head that rocked him.

The back angle shows it best, it hit pretty hard.. not hard enough that it should have stopped him, but it clearly ****ed Solis up.
