In the post-fight interview, Shannon Briggs said: "I've fought George Foreman, I've fought Lennox Lewis, and Vitali's the best.": (timestamped) This content is protected
Post lewis and during his comeback was his time. It was slim pickings back then. I wish he was a bit younger and competed in the 90's more. He would have been better tested.
Yeah I love Usyk but I have noticed at heavyweight he is getting rated very highly on here and I think a lot of that has more to do with people being sick of Fury. You are right AJ gets dogged on here non stop and he is Usyk's best win at heavyweight and they were not easy fights for Usyk neither was the Chisora fight.
Vitali is, by far, the best heavyweight since Lewis, and possibly better. Usyk's chance at a boxing clinic over Vitali is slim, which is probably his only chance. But if anyone can do it, it would be Usyk.
Klitschko was a dominant force in the heavyweight division during his time and possessed devastating power in his punches. On the other hand, Usyk is an excellent boxer with impressive footwork and speed, and he has made a successful transition from the cruiserweight division to heavyweight. It would be interesting to see how such a matchup would play out, but ultimately, it's impossible to predict the outcome of a fight that never happened.
Make no mistake, I think Usyk is the better boxer but Vitali wins, because he is a bigger, volume puncher with an awkward defense and believes in his chin. He's not gonna land hard on Usyk, but he won't have to to win rounds. And that's what matters. Great big guy beats great little guy. Once in a lifetime little guy beats great big guy Usyk seems to be a great HW, but not a once in a lifetime one like he was a once in a lifetime CW
Better is subjective. When Fury and Usyk accomplish more, then the real conversation and comparison can begin.
Fury already accomplished more like obviously. Usyk has probably accomplished more also at heavyweight but I guess that is debatable
