    Thats true.....

I like Rocky Marciano I really do....

    In fact my favorite fighters are fighters who fight with his style;

    Jack Dempsey
    Rocky Marciano
    Joe Frazier
    Mike Tyson

I like those fighters because the style at least to me is appealing, its crowd pleasing and its an approach to the sweet science thats easy to appreciate.

    However

Dempsey has the height and speed to deal with Vitaly. I'd pick Jack Dempsey over Vitaly. His fight with Willard shows that he can handles size but his attributes give him an edge; He has power, speed and toughness to withstand any setbacks. I'm not calling him unbeatable but he is a reliable fighter who has proven himself against decent opposition.

Frazier with his bob and weave brings enough pressure to make it an even money fight. I don't think Frazier was chinny at all. He fought George Freaking Foreman. There is no shame in losing to a big puncher. But from what I've seen I think Frazier can withstand Vitaly and present to him a style that would keep Vitaly on the defensive and constantly on the backfoot. I think Frazier beats him.

Mike Tyson to me is the perfection of the Dempsey, Frazier, Marciano style. He was the digital version of Joe Frazier. Frazier was the analog version IMO. Tyson had incredible speed, incredible power and stellar head movement that would give him the unique ability to match up well with anybody in history. I think that Tyson would have beaten Vitaly soundly because his pressure, 1 punch power and speed would be enough, not to mention his defense.

But Marciano fighting out of a crouch lacks height, lacks the necessary speed (he wasn't slow but for a guy his size with his height he needs to be significantly faster to pull it off) to get the job done.
At best I'd give the Rock even money because Rocky has something that Vitaly has never seen; 15 round stamina that could possibly fight hard for 18 rounds. The Rock is proven but I do think that Vitaly has skills and enough speed and size to make Marciano have a hard time. I don't know what Marciano would be at 220 but I know what he is at 185 and that's what I'm basing it on. And if that's the case Rocky has an uphill battle, no pun intended.

If I had to bet; I'm leaning towards Vitaly Klitschko.

If its any consolation, Vitaly is not a bum...

nah it would be awesome with both them covered in blood while everyone waits to see who gets stopped on cuts first.

though really what id like to see is the fear in vitalis eyes after marciano's first connect.

:patsch Vitali likes fighting on the back foot.

Vitali has great stamina himself. Vitali has something Rocky has never seen, hasn't even been close to to seeing. 250 lb, coupled with boxing skill.

When Vitali is forced to fight it's pretty obvious he doesn't have great stamina. His fights with Lewis/Sanders show this.

It's just physically impossible to be that size and have the stamina of a 200 pounder that's in shape. Obviously the size presents whole issues in itself to balance it out but stuff is lost as well as gained.

So what does Vitali do when he's hurt by someone like Rocky?

    What do you guys think?

Can he use the ring to move around, and escape?
    Nope

Use head movement to avoid punches?
Yea right, maybe for 5 seconds.

    Block and parry?
    Possible, and his only hope.

But for 12 rounds with the Rock, not likely.

The perfect fight for Vitali is a stand up boxer. As long as it's a boxing match, Vitali's chances are excellent. However, the man is not built for a dogfight. No boxer today is capable of bringing that dog fight to him. David Haye is not it, either.

But Vitali is not made to fight people like Frazier Dempsey Marciano and Tyson. These guys will growl and come forward no matter what is being thrown at them. Theyll get knocked out before they change theyre style. These guys wont care about reaching his head, theyll walk in on Vitali, and punch whatever they see in front of them. They will do so until the man submits.

Vitali trained for a 10 rounder for the Lewis fight. What exactly did you see in the Sanders fight?

Vitali at 38 threw over 1000 punches against Johnson. Over 800 in 10 rounds in the Arreola fight.

    Yes, he has great stamina.

Johnson/Arreola didn't make him fight. That's my point, Johnson never threw anything serious back and basically stood there. Arreola walked forward. Throwing 1000 arm punches doesn't tire you out anywhere near as much as an intense fight does.

Vitali's fight with Lewis only lasted 6 rounds so only training for a 10 rounds fight doesn't exactly hold up. He was exhausted.
Against Sanders he was also visibly winded early but luckily he was against an overweight part time boxer who gassed worse than he did.

Yeah training for a stay-busy 10 rounder really means that you are in peak condition for a championship fight.

Constantly moving for 10 rounds while throwing over 80 punches per round is really easy. In the Johnson fight he actually increased his output in the late rounds, throwing over 100 punches in the 10,11,12 rounds.

He was gassed against Sanders?

    You're clutching at straws.

Peak Vitali was completely gassed in rounds 5 & 6 against old, chubby Lewis, he was desperately hugging & struggling to catch his breath.

    End of story really.

Vitali is in great shape for a man of his size but it's obvious he doesn't have great conditioning relative to most other great heavyweights i.e Marciano.
