    Here's the thing.

I agree that the Byrd fight is a poor comparison for a Marciano Vitaly fight but the one thing that I should point out is that being a former Light Heavyweight doesn't mean that they couldn't compete with the "Super
Heavyweights." And being smaller doesn't preclude you from success in today's division as long as you have talent.

Chris Arreola is easily a top 5 win for Vitaly Klitschko if not a top 3 win.

When you consider that Adamek (a former Light Heavyweight masquerading as a Heavyweight) was able to come up in weight and decisively beat Arreola on the cards it suggests to me that quality of a fighter can never be discounted.

In fact, I'm certain based on the fights that I've seen from Arreola that Michael Spinks would dominate him on the cards and would be able to compete with any top 10 fighter today. While i wouldn't favor him to beat the Klitschko's (an '85 Spinks has a better shot against Vitaly than Wlad in 2010) I do think that he'd give a pretty good account of himself compared to the opponents that they've beaten over the years.

Bottom line I don't think Marciano beats Vitaly; There is too much of an uphill battle for the Rock. However given Marciano's low center of gravity, his underrated elusiveness and his power its likely that he'll have his moments. I certainly wouldn't count him out as he's proven to be a reliable fighter but to me smart money would have to be on Vitaly.

And that's exactly where I'd have my money.

    True... I'm V.K.'s human jockstrap...:yep

However, the H-2-H award goes to Rock Marciano and Charley Burley in terms of being fanatically overrated... Perhaps also to Aaron Pryor, as well.?.?
    :deal:shock:

Vitali misses arm punches over the top and holds all night while Rocky beats his body black and blue. Maricano ugly UD.

Yea, but you forgot the part where he never lost.

Lets be real for a second.
If Rocky never fought Charles, one of the greatest boxing tactician of all times, would you favor Rock in a fantasy h2h thread?

Let me answer that for you: hell no.

And since when did weight become such a huge factor? How come when someon makes a great stylistic point, it is easily countered by "Yea, but _____ weighed 20 more pounds!"

I Know just as well as all of you, the heavier, the more powerful, and the bigger the mismatch, hence weight divisions.
HOWEVER, once you reach the 200lb mark, it really doesnt matter as much. Their all big and powerful enough to deliver a KO blow. Does history not repeat this over and over again?

Very astute post, especially the outside the box reference to Marciano-Charles.

Buzzard Charles of 1950 ain't beating 2004 to 2010 Vitali Klit in a time machine, either.... NO!! Charles was slick and savvy, but also small and out-gunned against V.K.... Klit jabs, hooks and connects the majority of serious shots tossed.... A spry but timid Charles looks to survive against the highly skilled and hulking V.K. in a time machine...

Holy ****, Vitali beats Charles now? There is no way a fighter as limited, and with such mediocre competition is beating Ezzard, even out of his prime weight class. I'm sorry, just because vitali is big and he beats up on dumb fat guys doesn't mean he has the smarts, speed, power or game plan to tackle a guy like Charles. Are you hammered? I can't see how someone could say something so silly unless they were under the influence. :good

It's highly amusing every time **** like this comes up...VITLAY hasn't beaten a single great fighter in his own era, yet would beat every great fighter that ever lived in a 'time machine'

Unfortunately for VITLAY, no-one actually fights in a time machine, they do it the ring - the place where he quits or gets busted up whenever he fights someone decent :deal

Klitschko would probably try to wrap his arms around Rocky's though.

leaving his gigantic frame of a body wide open

You know why Dempsey loved his match-up against Willard? Because of how big he was. Willard had a much worse stance, leaving his body much more open than Vitali would, but if were talking about Vitali trying to tie up with the rock, forget about it.

The size of the Klitschko brothers naturally make them limited in speed and balance. That's just how it is. They rule the division, because the division is full of really big guys, who cant move around for ****. You got a guy named "Fast Eddie" whose physical appearance makes you wonder if they actually meant Fat Eddie. And the one contender who has a dying chance, David Haye, cant even employ a jab properly to go in the ring with any ATG, like my man Mike Tyson pointed out in his latest interview.

The division is rampant with tall, slow, and old fighters, none of whome have any type of special athletic abilities. A field day for a couple of ATG's such as the Klitschko's.
