I dont know why but seeing Peter as the Champ annoys me. There have been so many other guys who never got the shots this chubster got, just goes to show timing is everything. Sometimes you need to come along at the precise moment in time. Imagine Tua vs Maskaev for the belt back when Tua meant something or a number of other cats who would be wearing a belt had they had the fortune of being in the right place at the right time.

Yea probably. But he's pretty Famous around in Ukraine. When I was there there were big bilboards with his and Wlads picture on the streets. Can't count him out yet.

I doubt it, style wise Peter & Maskaev aren't that far apart.

You can bet he wouldn’t have. He’s plan was to beat Maskaev and retire before fight with Peter. Now than Peter got his shot for the title first its not surprising that he will not take the fight

I think it would be better for Vitali to just stay retired. If he has a doctor's degree and a chance to persue a career in politics, he should just go with it. Why take a chance on hurting himslef while he still has a chance to make something of himself after boxing.

It IS good news. I like Vitali, but i think it's for the best if he stays retired.

I'd like to see Wlad vs Peter II but i'm afraid King will squeeze in a Peter vs Golota :-(

And seeing how Chagaev and Valuev will be fighting, Wlad is probably not going to be able to unify before november 2008. Hopefully he'll fight someone like Thompson.

I agree, if Vitali is not going to come back then it's good for Wladimir.
And I'd rather Vitali really made his mind up what he wants to do and announces it, either which way. The dithering about just stalls the divison.

To be fair, it was McCall that was meant to be getting the shot after he beat Sinan Samil Sam...but then suddenly they decided no, they wanted McCall-Gomez II as a final final eliminator kind of deal.

Basically, the WBC have been totally twiddling their thumbs when it's come to deciding their challengers and mandatories over the last couple years. They've made a real mess out of this.
