Liston beat men taller than himself a dozen times.

Yeah and I think it’s not unlikely many good 160lbers beat Chuck Wepner - it ain’t that much of a win, Liston was bigger in his key wins against his best opposition - Folley, Machen, Patterson are his top 3 victories IMO each one is a sub 200lber, Williams was bigger then Liston but It depends what you think of Williams I don’t think he was that good. Interesting story for the forum folk who haven’t heard it, Valdez used to beat Liston up in sparring a lot? Or during one particularly rude moods session… I forget which but Liston considered there fight one of the most satisfying of his career and a bit of a revenge which is neat.

Listons best opponents like Patterson would likely be light heavyweights/cruiserweights in Klitschkos era. If they shared an era with Klistchko they likely would never fight him due to campaigning in a different division.

Patterson could probably win a belt in the modern day heavyweight division if he carefully picked his opponent. He could beat a John Ruiz type.

I have no problem with people favoring Vitali.

But so many voting Vitali to KO Liston makes me question seriously the level of sanity of this forum...
