Times change cuz of age, etc................. I too think a peaked 33 year old W.K. here in 2010 prolly gets the better of older bro V.K. in the ring, but only on points...... Even a 38 year old V.K. is still tougher and more durable than Wlad ever has been..... Back in 2004, I'd easily go with Vitali Klit over the struggling Wladimir Klit. However, here in 2010, W.K. is in his prime and has rebounded in his career extremely well...... MR.BILL:deal
I guess that resume wise it comes down to this: A. Wlad has the better resume as things stand now. B. The gap is only going to get wider, because Vitally is going to taper off his career verry soon, while Wlad has years left.
Difference is, WALDO wouldn't get chance to land flush on Lewis like VITLAY did. Lewis loved to fight timid guys and WALDO is a stylistic dream for Lennox, poor chin, cautious....oh dear. Lewis would blow WALDO out inside of 3 rounds every day of the week whereas he'd always have to go to the later rounds with VITLAY.
Vitali can credit his brother all he wants, but results speak for themselves. If Wlad is "better," then why does he have an inferior record against common opponents?
i admire vitali's love for his younger brother. i think it's sweet. sure, wlad has some advantages over vitali, but vitali is the overall better fighter and ignoring numbers, he is also the more accomplished fighter. but i do admire his love for his brother....
You make a good point about the common opponents but even then..vitali is up what only 2-1 on Wladimir? Vitali did beat Purrity and Sanders whom Wlad lost too...but Wlad beat Byrd 2x whom Vitali lost too. I would say Byrd is the best fighter out of the common opponents..thus making it the most important victory. It's not as wide a margin as you think. I think in terms of quality and quantity, Wladimir has clearly beaten the better opposition than Vitali. It's also a case of Wlad fighting these guys before Vitali did, thus vitali knowing what to expect(like against Sanders who still clocked vitali and might have done better if not for his horrendous out of shape body). Although in fairness, Bryd fought Vitali before Wlad.
Tougher? No way Vitali is tougher than Wladimir. Vitali hates pain, he hates adversity, he is one of the biggest cowards of all time in terms of being able to toughen it out from a difficult situation.
i know that this is a controversial thread of its own and that a loss is a loss. but i don't hold that loss against vitali. i know people like to talk about "man up" and warriors and all that chivalrous stuff...but vitali was absolutely right to stop the fight with a torn rotator cuff. nevermind the intolerable pain, he could have ended his career by fighting on. there was some *bad luck* combined with chris byrd's determination. i'd like to see the people who criticize vitali for this (i'm not saying you, i don't know) to fight with a torn rotator cuff. it's just about the pain, it's about the serious health risk.
oh, ok, i wish i had read this. i'm not klitschko fanboy so i don't care too much...but it's clear that your comments on vitali cannot be taken too seriously for you are too biased...
So no one can know what to expect from a fighter unless they happen to have a brother who's fought them first? :huh Still pretty significant, whatever the margin is. You could also consider the fact that Vitali came off a layoff and injuries to beat Sam Peter easily and without incident, whereas Wlad had his hands full and had to survive KDs and some rocky moments.
Facts are Facts - Quit against a harmless fighter with 2 rounds to go in a world title fight, while well ahead on the cards. - Quit against Maskaev in the amatuers - pulled out of a fight with hasim rahman 4 times, then retired just 1 day before the fight. When has he ever shown he can comeback and win a fight after experiencing even a little bit of adversity?
According to you, he was down and hurt early against Sanders - something his brother failed to come back from.
If fighters held final judgement how good they are compared to other fighters, Mayweather would be the GOAT.
