not knocking your list at all but that's not exactly a list that is going impress boxing historians when looking at legacy or ATG heavyweight rankings

Oh hey, Im not making the case for him being an ATG, but thats just my list.

I think he suffered from taking those 4 years of what was basically his prime out with injury and not having that many top guys to fight.

Also, after his brother beats someone decent like Chagaev,it makes it less viable for Vitali to fight him.

Herbie Hide as his first notable scalp. Hide made hard work for Vitali at first - outboxing him in the opening round - but Vitali came on strong in the second round and knocked him out. This gave Vitali some credibility on the World stage - not a whole lot but some.

Kirk Johnson because the dominating win that, coupled with his valiant display against Lewis, established Vitali as the man to beat amungst the emerging Heavyweights.

Sanders because he was coming into the fight having destroyed Wlad and he didn't back down. He met Vitali head on and didn't care a jot about Vitali's power until his dreadful conditioning caught up with him. He even rocked Vitali a couple of times.

Peter because he had lost a close fight to Wlad, had beaten Maskaev to win the WBC Title and had shown great skill against Toney in their second clash. After four years out Peter was about as dangerous an opponent as could be found for Vitali's return fight, but he dominated and crushed Peter in body and spirit - probably Vitali's best win.

Arreola because he was undefeated and looked a good prospect at the time and Vitali went to Arreola's home town for the fight when he had no reason to.
