Vitali's resume is not a good one. But what would you guys say were his 5 biggest wins except for Sanders and Peter which are widely viewed as the top ones in his CV. For me this would be: 3. Tomasz Adamek 4. Chris Arreola 5. Derek Chisora 6. Kirk Johnson 7. Danny Williams
I agree with OP's list of top wins after Sanders and Peter. I was at the Arreola fight, and really thought he was going to make a fight out of it but Vitali was just too good that night. Adamek was another good WIN on his resume, he was looking like a solid contender at HW. Mike Tyson conquerer Danny Williams who came out of nowhere really, was a decent win he beat an old Tyson to get his oppurtunity for the title. I'd throw Gomez in there as well.
A bit underwhelming for his talent. But a lot of injury problems + plus opponents not wanting to fight him or choosing to face Wlad instead + not being able to fight Wlad for obvious reasons hurts him.
Yeah, Haye was originally supposed to face Vitali but both fighters went different ways. Lewis stopped Vitali.
He’s vastly underrated now but a very tough stylistic match up for many. He was also a very tough guy.
I would say he's vastly overrated. Presented as a H2H great and a better Klitschko with nothin to show for it. Plus people saying he never lost to an actual opponent but to himself, lol.
Briggs, Chisora, Danny Williams, Bean, Kirk Johnson, Hide, Solis, Julian Francis, Larry Donald and Arreola would be my next 10. Going with 4 non title wins tells you what I think about his reign as champion.
Compared to who's ? Dempsey's? Louis' ? Marciano's ? Frazier's ? Foreman's ? He ducked no one , fought a lot of very big, strong guys ... Ali, Holyfield, Lewis fought everyone . Maybe Tyson ... they all lost decisively a couple of times .... there than his brother two should he have fought that he didn't ?
Compared to his brother for example. While Wlad was beating top contenders Vitali was fighting second and third tier heavyweights playing second fiddle.
