Vitali Klitschko's career defining moment?

How about him utterly DESTROYING a still dangerous Samuel Peter after having been retired due to injury for a couple of years. Peter didn't win a minute of that fight. Absolute and total domination.

If you think Peter is nobody.......who today, leaving the K brothers out, would you be 100% certain to beat an in-shape Peter?

Poor Vitali gets a raw deal. He never got a unification fight because of his injury problems and Wladimir being the project. I would like to have seen him smash the other beltholders up and retire as undisputed champ, then let his brother try and claim the belts.

Coming off 4-years retirement, and completely destroying the WBC Champ, Samuel Peter.

Steve Albert: "Peter took a monstrous amount of punishment from Vitali Klitschko, who fought a brilliant fight."

Al Bernstein: " A memorable feat, Vitali Klitschko coming back after nearly four years to regain the title."

Do you think Wladimir has, inadvertently, hindered Vitali's career?

If either brother weren't boxing, the other would have an even stronger hold on the divisions top ranking. But I don't think it's hindered Vitali's, or Wladimir's career to have the other boxing. They've both fought just about everyone they can.

I see the majority of the posters on here have got it wrong . . . it is clearly his bitching out to Byrd. THIS IS THE HEAVYWEIGHT championship of the world . . . you do not give it up to a feather fisted fighter like Byrd on the stool. He was just lucky he did not fight Razor that night because he would have been retired for good!

What does an in-shape Peter have to do with the fat **** that VITLAY fought?

Has Peter even won a fight since he fought VITLAY? Can't have been all that good to begin with, surely?

The Lewis fight. Very much dominant in his time, but put him up against genuine class (even out of shape class) and we see him for what he is, very good but not truly great.

Here are some notable torch passing occassions:

    Marciano beat Louis.
    Ali beat Liston/Patterson.
    Holmes beat Ali.
    Tyson beat Holmes.
    Lewis beat Holyfield/Tyson.

Vitali had an out of shape 38 yr old Lewis in front of him and couldn't close the deal. that is his career defining moment, not being good enough to take the torch from a very faded Lewis.

Yep, thus proving himself a most un-worthy succesor in the process. None of the above had to whine, cry and ***** for a rematch to try to win the belts, they just did it at the right time like a real champion does. VITLAY grabbed the title once Lewis was gone but he never beat the man.
