All of you guys that keep saying that Vitali klitschko has a Granite Chin and there's no way that he can be hurt ..must then think that Oleg Maskaev is just a murderous puncher because that guy blew out Klitschko in the 1st rd back in their Russian amatuer days...I guess everyone here just chooses to forget that little bit of fact when talking about Klitschko's Chin.
Where was Maskaev quoted as admitting that he made the story up?? I'd like to check that article out someday.
oh, a 20 year old Oleg "knocked out" an 18 year old 20 years ago and his chin isn't granite because he really hasn't been hurt at all since then...Ooo...ooo...
And a young Clay/Ali was knocked down by an undersized Englishman, nulifying his claim to a solid chin. Great point. And of course, you know that was a corner stoppage in the amateurs. Guy's a very good fighter with a very good chin and, as champs go, an historically underwhelming resume. Why get bitchy about it?
since the man has not been off is feet in over 40 fights I think his chin is dam good and to dig up something almost 20 yrs ago as "proof" he doesn't have a granite chin is very weak.
His chin is clearly overrated. People just don't get him with that height, reach, his awkwardness, power, and that lean back defense he has (LoL). Added to the fact how slow in feet and hand most HW are its not surprise that it hasn't been further exposed or at least proven to be great. Arreola's chin is probably better than Klitschko's as far as I'm concerned. His defense sucks and gets hit a million times.
My understanding is that Vitali quit in this fight between rounds. Supposedly he had an injury of some sort. The story is that Vitali had a major tournament coming up, and he took the Maskaev fight before the tournament. Vitali entered the Maskaev fight with an injury. Supposedly Vitali's coach decided to retire Vitali between rounds because he didn't want the injury to get worse, which would have bumped Vitali from the upcoming tournament. It's kind of like Timurziev being pulled between rounds in his 2008 match against Zhang just before the Olympics. In short, coaches like to preserve their fighters for bigger upcoming event.s
