Vitali has accomplished everything he needs. All coming fights are just icing on the cake. The only thing he cannot do is avenge his two losses, but that's not his fault.

If Vitali wants to impress with a final fight, he outboxes Valuev in a very decisive way, to redicule the wins of Chagaev and Haye. Or Vitali defeats Haye soundly. Perhaps he TKOs Solis or Tua. But that's it for Vitali.

He filled the vacuum Lewis left, and filled it well for two years. After his long absence, he returned with a bang, and now rules a division, which is becoming better again.

My take is, that of the last 30 years, the TOP 5 of HW are/were Lewis, Tyson, Holyfield, and the Klitschkos, in no particular order. In their prime, head to head, each of them would have a fair chance to beat each of the others, or lose.

    - Holyfield's skills, endurance, heart, and speed made him a match for everybody.
    - Lewis' reach, power, skills, and ring generalship made him one of the best for almost a decade. Possibly the best of them all - when he was motivated.
    - Tyson's aggression and power, ducking and infighting skills are still legendary. The early Tyson was a monster in the ring.
    - Vitali's reach/size, skill, and awkward style are difficult to cope with. Up to 2004, he showed the power to KO a grizzly. He next to never loses a single round and has a chin of iron. Dedicated as hell.
    - Wladimir has the best jab of the last decades in HW. After some knowdowns at the beginning of the decade, he has improved tremendously, and dominates the best opposition as they were from different tiers. Disciplined like a robot, he grinds his opponents into retirement.

Wlad is the better boxer, Vitali is 0the better fighter. H2H prime for prime, Vitali would put Wlad into one of his famous panic attacks before laying him out in the mid rounds. Vitali's too tough for the sometimes fragile Wlad.

I wouldn't fear a date with Holmes, but prime (early) Tyson and prime Lennox would be a tall order, with him going in well as the underdog. I however don't think the undersized heroes of the early times (up to the 60s) would have had a remote chance though, they would have looked like Baldomir vs. Kelly Pavlik.

I think he'll take another 'soft' opponent like Tony Thompson in March/April

Wlad would win by UD or late TKO.

I am tired of all this bul**** talk about panic attacks.

Wlad is the better boxer and fighter H2H.

I agree with a lot of what was said here.

Wlad is the smoother, more natural boxer. Amazing for a guy his size to not be awkward.

Vitali is tougher, stronger and equally as determined.

Iconic HW's from prior eras, and even some of todays guys, are probably too small. Tua is a good example. Prime Holyfield is another good example.

Prime Lewis vs. Prime Vitali would be a jab fest. Neither guy was nimble, but both were tough, with Vitali being the tougher in my opinion. Lewis had better technique. Hard to call that fight.

Prime Tyson has a better chance. Vitali fights with his hands down and has an awkward style. Tyson had tremendous mobility and hand speed and could have exploited those openings. Also Tyson had amazing power, and his own awkward combos thrown from different angles. Vitali may be able to take those shots, but he would get hit a lot.

He had panic attacks against lesser oppenents, why wouldn't a guy with 90% ko ratio do the same? Wlad is not that tough, his past will show you that.

Exactly. Having more charisma does not equate to being a better boxer.
Unless he picks it up, or fights his brother and proves me wrong, Vitali will always be seen as being #2 in this era.

And to say Vitali is a "better" boxer than Holmes is silly. Head to head, due to Vitali's size.... sure...but "better"? All depends on what you mean by "better".
