Blame HBO. They are too cheap to pay for some of Vitali's fights. Yet Vitali performs well on HBO. Sanders, Johnson, and Arreola come to mind.

Latin mother****ers are loyal to their home-boys who fight on the tube, but that's pretty regional as well.... Them strong Latino ratings are pretty much west coast..... So, all in all, the ratings for "Klit-Arreola" of 2009 suggest that America in general was looking in on that fight.... I sure as hell was.....

I think HBO's recent management planning over the last few years has really been poorly thought through.... HBO has a group of assholes' now calling the shots there....

HBO seems to be in financial troubles, they're losing subscribers and the recession hasn't been good to them.

HBO is not in financial troubles

Their subscriber base has taken a small downtick, but it’s really nothing to major. It’s really to be expected during recession

Fight was also paired with the replay of Mayweather-Marquez from the previous week, which surely helped attract more viewers.

Boxing is the same as ever, the only thing now is the media don't like the champions

It was a good matchup in fairness, Arreola is a fat lump but he's decent enough. Vitali is old as hell but he's more exciting to watch then Wlad. And heavyweights always get more attention.

It's a pity the US doesn't have anybody better than Arreola.

Thompson and Chambers are both better, imo.

I never really understood HBO walking away from Vitali. I can understand not televising Wlad's fights - as dominant and as good as he is, generally his fights are awful from an entertainment standpoint. On the other hand, I've always enjoyed watching Vitali. He throws a lot of punches, almost always gets the ko and looks like a mean ******* doing it. What's not to like about that?

Ya I suppose I probably would put them over him too, but Thompson is as old as the hills, and Chambers, despite having good skills, is undersized for the HW division and a very light puncher.

What I mean by that is, it's a pity they don't have any big young HW with more discipline and skill than Arreola, to capture the public imagination and set up some big fights.

His fights with Sosnowski and Johnson were terrible affairs. Not exactly because of him, but they weren't pretty.
