Vitali Klitscho Vs. Chris Arreola Sept. 26 on HBO drew the highest rating of 2009 for

Berto's next fight is on an under-card though - HBO aren't exactly breaking the bank for this one.

 

The Johnson fight was sheer torture - I think most of the blame for that can be laid at his door though. He looked like he just wanted to last the distance, no matter how bad he looked.

The Sosnowski fight went pretty much like I expected it to (at the risk of sounding like Manny Steward). Maybe Vitali just wasn't as motivated for an opponent so far beneath him, or maybe he's slipping a little.

HBO seem to have punished him because his brother is so boring, which doesn't really seem fair.

 

Or pay $3 million for the Dawson **** fights.

That's about 1.45 too much. Thomas Hauser did a couple of articles a while ago that showed HBO regularly pays much more than they need to for fights.

I don't even think this is the reason for not showing Vitali's fights though - Greenberg said that people can't tell the difference between him and his brother, which still makes it sound like Vitali is being punished for the way Wlad fights.

 

It's because of Al Haymon. Apparently he has so much clout at the network because he's close with heads at the helm of HBO and their parent company Time Warner.

 

I think this is another situation where Vitali gets ****ed over for being Super Wlad's brother. People wrongly lump the two together as boring fighters and so Vitali suffers.

Obviously Super Wlad's fights are boring as ****, but Vitali isn't a ***** like his brother and comes to fight. Admittedly Vitali's had awful competition since his comeback but he's still worth broadcasting and I'm sure he'd get decent ratings, especially against American fighters.
