What if Vitali Klitschko before the Chris Byrd fight had made the transition to K1? What could he have done? At that point he would already be a 6 time kickboxing champion. 2 times as a amateur. 4 times as a pro. And he would have the experience of being the undefeated WBO heavyweight champion. And having won all his pro boxing fights by KO. And he would have the height, reach, weight, and chin. I think he could have won the K1 title. I love K1, the thing I don't like about it is that they sign washed up boxing champions to let them get beat by a kickboxer to show off how  superior  K1 is.
For th record....Vitali got koed by Pelé Reid under kickboxing rules. ( Vitali has one hell of a chin...but he was koed by a kick... so it's not dramatic) by this guy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pele_Reid Though honestly it's irrelevant...Reid is a nobody in boxing...and a can in kickboxing... and anything can happens under kickboxing rules especially if a brutal kick lands...it generates more power than any punches.. Reid fought Sefo once in 2003... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Sefo For more about the Vitali vs Reid story... visit http://www.boxnews.com.ua/en/news/1...ked-Vitali-Klitschko-Out-What-Really-Happened-
I know Vitali got knocked out. But that is no big deal. Crop Cop got knocked out by Mc Donald for instance. And Bob Sapp stopped Hoost.
Iv seen that fight. Quite ironic really as Pele although a fine physical specimen has a shockingly bad chin and is only a journeyman milling around the British circuit. Oops just read the rest of your post :thumbsup
This. To answer your question.Yes Vitali would have won a k1 tournament. virgil KalaKoda took Buakaw the distance and defeated Sato(who had beat Buakaw months ago)And Virgil was a journeyman in boxing. It is very obvious Boxing is a sport with a lot more interest and he has been very good at it (more money for him as well) very few people would even know who he is
Yes. Hatton earned something like 12 million dollar by fighting pac. But the winner of the final 8 K1 grandprix gets something like 500.000 dollar. So it is pretty obvious why he chose boxing. And like you say, boxing is more popular then K1 worldwide.
LOL, Vitali would've run right through the K-1 circuit. K-1 is a criminal organization full of corruption and mediocre fighters.
Yes, I do. They did have some very solid fighters, they still have a few solid fighters. But the talent pool is so shallow.
