The Lewis fight had Vit winning and not quiting.
    Is that absurd?

It's not his fault Lennox couldn't outpoint him..

Vit was ready for round 7.
He wasn't ready to give up... "Like I said, you still need to kill him to beat him."

Boxing fans all over dispute this. Plenty of friends of mine and people I talk to in general wanted to see a rematch.

People that are fans of Lewis say he didn't have to fight again because he won and he has the right to retire without giving a rematch. I can't think of a fighter that bailed the sport like he did.

    It works both ways.

He didn't chicken out, he won and then retired.

What people are still talking about is the fact that ViTKLiT got stopped by the same version of LL that got KOd in 5 vs Hasim.

The guy had to have surgery. He was unable to fight.

    Lewis didn't want to fight.

    There's a difference

He told Vitali that Vitali would have to beat Kirk Johnson and then he would fight him.

Vitali was in his prime Lewis on the other hand was pushing 40, why does a man at his age have have to fight beyond his prime yrs?

The Version of Lewis that fought Vitali was even worse than the one that got KO'd by Rahman IMO.

    Once again, he was 37.

I'm not saying the guy has to do anything. He can do whatever he wants.

However, when there is a fight that is very controversial like that one he is going to get slack for not fighting.

I'll try to find the article about him saying how he wanted to continue fighting prior to the Vitali fight, but I don't think that it is going to change your opinion.

Just because he was 3 lbs. heavier doesn't necessarily mean that this was a worse version.

I agree with you about the Byrd misfortune. At the time I thought it was ridiculous that the magazines and boxing media were judging Vitali so harshly, as if he had been beaten legitimately by Byrd. Sure enough, though, Vitali came back to silence his critics.

ViTKLiT's greatest victory is a loss...to the worst, most out of shape, unmotivated, past his prime version of Lewis to step between the ropes...

But Lewis is one of history's very, very best heavyweights. Sometimes a loss to such a great heavyweight is a great performance in itself.

He was old and when you are 38 and getting older each day you're pushing 40 which is the only reason he didn't rematch him, it's like Foreman and Moorer, why should an oldman have to fight when he is past it. If Vitali was even in the same class as Lewis he would have easily beat him and won by KO.

Uh no it's not, What Vitali did in 03 would be like Tyson losing a close one to Holmes in 88, or Marciano losing a close one to Louis in 51, see my point?
