Toney deserves last shot for the title and it would be intresting bout.

I hope he can get title shot this time.

It is all about styles and Toney has a different style than Peter.
In shape, Toney would make Vitali look bad and that is why both Klits are reluctant to face him.

I think that wlad have an easier time with JT than Vitali.

I totally agree. It's Impossible for Vitali to miss that large chunk of lard. No disrespect for Toney, he had great bouts at middle-, supermiddle-, cruiser- and even against smaller opponents at heavyweight (Holyfield, Ruiz,...), but against a 6ft7 giant swinging a hook like a telephone pole? Even that would be to much for our slick old-schooled fighter's shoulder roll. I wanna see him shoulder roll Vitali for 12 rounds long:D. He eventually would get hurt very badly...

    True.

JT would offer Vitali much bigger challenge than Gomez or Peter.

I agree - that statement speaks volumes of the state of today's division...

The problem with facing a 40 year old version of Toney is that Vitali will look bad either way.

If he knocks Toney out of the ring then Toney was "too old", "shot" and "just came for a pay day". If Toney brings Vitali trouble and Vitali looks bad then Vitali "can't even beat a fat old ex middle weight".

It's a lose lose fight for Vitali. It brings ZERO fame, does nothing for his legacy.

Going against an unbeaten prospect with Arreola is much more interesting IMO. Maybe Arreola is able to outgrow himself and surprise Vitali.

Also, don't forget HBO favors Arreola over Toney for the fight. Big factor here.

Peter already beat Toney, he was outboxing him.

Gomez is 6'3 and has long arms, when he tried to get inside at least he could cause some trouble. How would Toney ever get past Vitali's octopus arms that punch from weird angles?

    I disagree.
Having victory over ATG will do something to his legacy. Much more than having victory over likes of Gomez.
Also if he could knock Toney out he would be first man to do that.

Should say: Speaks volumes about the state of the US HW scene.

Ever wonder why HBO doesn't push for Vitali vs. Toney? Toney has no pull, there's very little public interest in him at 40 years old.

Should Vitali also fight Holyfield? He's only 46. Would it help Vitali's record?

Not as difficult as it used to be, because he never faced a hard hitter like Vitali before, he looked quite bad agains Rahman (2nd fight), Oquendo. He will eat more punches than burgers at his state today and will eventually be stopped by Vitali. Also, neither of the Klitschko's were ever behind on points, even in their losses and Toney was never a very hard hitter at heavyweight. So to win the fight on points doesn 't seem possible for chubby (KO Holyfield = Holyfield was already shot):D

Toney is simply trying to talk himself into another easy payday. If he's serious about wanting a shot let him fight Maskaev or the winner of Solis - Johnson.

Taking long layoffs after a lucky points decission against (the not so highly regarded) Oquendo is not going to get him a title shot. He will only get older, fatter and more ringrusty.

Toney should fight more often and become a gatekeeper for young lions like Arreola, Johnsson, or he will be a good test for Chambers. Otherwise, I have to say that he f*cked up his only chance of becomming champ against Johnny "not so quiet in the court" Ruiz. Stay out of drugs and burgers!!

He looked quite bad against Oquendo but who doesn’t. Oquendo run and hold entire fight so it is pretty difficult to look good against him.

Against Rahman (2nd fight) he looked good and made Rock quit after third round.

Stopping Toney might not be as difficult it use to be but no one has even been close to stopping him to this day so I find it hard to believe Vitali could do it.
