Patterson is unquestionably the greater fighter, from a HW, all-time, P4P and skills perspective- but this is a poor matchup for him. A massive opponent, who can punch.

Vilati wins, by mid-round TKO, but it makes me sick picking him.

I don't think Ingemar would've agreed with you there. Floyd could punch. :p

Vit Klit leading on points by establishing superiour jab keeping Floyd at bay then gaszed in late rounds performing a 'Lennox/Vit' losing by TKO.

Vitali, despite the criticisms he gets the guy would be a serious opponent for any HW ever.

Floyd would have the better of the exchanges in boxing terms but Vitali would catch up with him after 3-5 rounds.

If Patterson doesn't forget his boxing skills in the dressing room, like he did in fear against Sonny Liston, it wouldn't surprise me to see him leading on the scorecards up to the middle of the fight. Klitschko can't compare handspeed to Patterson, as Floyd was arguably the fastest according to Ali and others who fought him. Floyd's could slip enough of Vitali's jabs, but it's probably a matter of time before a big right hand catches him and hurts him.

Klitschko by mid to late KO, but it wouldn't surprise me to see Floyd survive a 12 round fight and win by a close decision.

A lot of people are selling Floyd short I think. Even though his chin was always suspect, I think he does have certain tools at his disposal to get to Klitschko. Vitali isn't very quick, and he doesn't throw punches with the correct technique. I think there would be a number of openings for someone like Floyd, with his tremendous speed. Don't forget that Vitali is actually a pretty cautious fighter, so it would be unusual for him to go out there and really go after Patterson in the early rounds. I think Floyd has his moments based on activity, but Klitschko eventually gets to him by the 7-9th rounds.

I think people are being a bit too quick to dismiss Pattersons chances.

If he employs the right strategy and uses his speed to land and counter without rushing in then he could do better than Byrd did.

I question this in the HW, all time and even skills sense.
Vitali has acheived far more and beaten far better fighters than Patterson. Vit has the skill set which a taller, bigger HW should have. Should a 6-7 guy use the peekaboo and leap into his punches? No, he should use his height, fight off his back foot and create distance. If he was really great at this style he might even go on to have the highest KO rate of any heavyweight champ.

Yes! I agree! Despite the obvious problems, I think Patterson has a decent chance to get a win here, but he might have to get off the floor early to do it. A decision win for Floyd is definitely not out of the question against Vitali...in my opinion.
