Lewis didn't want to rematch as he was 39 years old and about 30 pounds out of shape in the first fight!?

Vitali had a good 3-4 rounds, but Lewis was starting to get on top when it was stopped anyway.

VK had gassed, taken a lot of punishment, and there's no way he'd have boxed out any sort of win from there.

It happens a lot.

Quitting at round 9 with a rotator cuff injury is just total lack of heart.

Tons of guys box 6-7 rounds with that sort of thing

 

Vitali's best ever opponent (other than Lewis who stopped him at 39 years of age) probably equates to a step below a Frank Bruno. Probably to even that.

You know, Lewis was basically out of boxing at the time, weighed in 20 pounds over his usual weight, and was pushing 40. He still battered the guy

 

It's a simple point. He got his face mashed up, because of the numerous bombs Lewis was hitting him with.

Not some freak accident.

Watch the last round. He's taking huge punishment.

Trying to claim that he was stopped on pure "medical grounds" is misleading.

That's a bit of an understatement. Not only did he beat Vitali at 39 years of age, but VK's best ever win probably equates to a step below Frank Bruno on the Lewis scale.

Lewis's losses were just lack of attention, and a lax attitude in the ring. He blew both away in rematches

 

He didn't just get stopped on the cut. He was taking huge punishment in the last round. He couldn't see anything coming.

Pull him out, or watch him get knocked out

 

He's not even better than Lewis at 39, and 360 pounds

 

Vitali has had the likes of Valuev and Holyfield calling him out for years. EH wanted him straight after lewis.

 

Lewis defeated Klitschko by tko. The rules are perfectly clear on this. The doctor is there to protect the fighters. Klitschko had 5-6 big gashes on his face, two of these were on his eyelid. Would you rather he continued and ended up being Doctor iron cyclops? Fights have been stopped for far less.
It was not a no contest because the cuts were caused by punches, not by a foul or an accidental headbutt.
So there is no reason why the bout should have been declared a no contest. Lewis won, get over it. Neither of the Klitschko's measured up, get over that too.

Lewis is probably one of the top 10 most ducked fighters of all time, and fought absolutely everyone who would face him.

As for Lewis, I have to work on the basis that you know something about the fight game, which I'm not sure you do.

Razor Ruddock, Tony Tucker, Frank Bruno, Oliver McCall, Tommy Morrison, Ray Mercer, Andrew Golota, Evander Holyfield, Botha, Tua, Tyson, Klitschko

The only guy of his entire era who isn't in that list is Bowe, who refused to face him. And he only didn't fight Tyson in the mid 1990s, as Tyson refused to face him either.

Seriously man, Evander was PFP number 2 when Lewis faced him/

So, one of the greatest Heavyweights of all time, at the top of his game............That's nothing!

 

What a ridiculous comment. Half of the hall of fame have been counter out.

I'd say, great fighters don't lose to cruiserweights, 39 year old legends at about 50%, or have Sam Peter as their best ever win

 

Vitaly wimped out of the fight against Byrd. Tons of guys box ten rounds with a torn rotator. Let alone 3.

He lost to Lewis over injury? He was stopped by the referee as he had taken so much punishment to the face that he had about 15 seperate cuts to the head, and was probably going to get himself seriously hurt if he let him continue.

Wlad was gassed, beaten up, out of ideas, and finished in that fight. You make it sound like he'd have boxed on for 6 more rounds and won................

 

Lewis was also 39 years of age, and basically out of the sport

The problem Vitali has is that Lewis went on from losses and took on all comers. Anyone who would face him. He redeemed himself.

Vitali won't fight his brother, and hasn't touched any real divisional contender since Lewis
