Vitali/Lewis after the 6th

Very polarizing topic. Vitaly up 36-22 at this point but I recall threads like this in the past when Lewis wound up carry over 60% of the votes.

Geez, this debate has gone on for 8 years.

 

Towards the end of that fight, Lewis was definitely the one landing bigger shots. But i'll still vote for Vitali because Lewis looked completely exhausted. If Vitali hanged on for a couple of rounds, Lewis would have been completely out of gas. One combination would have ended the fight.

fact is, 31 year old prime Vitali got beat up by a fat 38 year old Lennox.

Klitschko fans will still cry about this for another 30 years.

1 Lewis was not Fat.
2 Lewis wasn't battle worn or anything he was as good at 37 as he was at 35
3 why won't you mention Vitaly injuries or that Vitaly wasn't experienced enough?

 

Vitali had only 2 weeks notice, but he staggered Lewis and would have knocked Lewis out in the 7th round, it was obvious. Angelo Dundee said that Vitali was cheated out of the WBC title that night..........Lewis' promoter signaled Lewis' doctor to signal Lewis' referee to stop the fight because Lewis was finished..............

 

Vitali did very well and I personally think he would have always given Lewis serious problems even in his prime. But Lewis had turned the fight his way, Vitali wasn't hurting Lewis anymore, it was Lewis who was landing the big hurtful shots.

Yes Lewis was very tired but so was Vitali and the way Vitali was holding on for dear life at the end of the last round suggests to me he was ready to go. Lewis has shown against Briggs and Bruno he could turn a poor performance round and get the KO and I suspect had the fight continued he would have done so again.

 

Anywho who says Vitali would have won should go and watch round six again. Vitali is out on his feet for most of the round! Also note how long it takes him to get back to his corner.

 

Lewis smashed his face in, deal with it.

 

I can't believe people make such a big deal about this sloppy fight.

FFS Lennox was on the slide and neither fighter came in totally prepared.
