Had there been no cut I think Vitali wins by a late KO or on points if Lewis could find the energy however it was a terrible cut and Lewis therefore deservedly won.
It's a shame there wasn't a rematch because it was an unsatisfactory win as we're talking about it these years later but Lewis had earnt the right to retire.

It really doesn't matter what would have happened if the fight had gone on. If Lewis had won, we wouldn't have these ******ed threads, and if he lost he would have been motivated and in-shape for a rematch. A rematch that he wins comfortably, just like his other rematches. No way he would have retired on a loss.

sustained cut was not a sign of Lewis boxing superiority,it was merely lucky punch that caused injury.
watch some boxing nob you will see that sometimes cuts happen and it is not necessarily an indicator who is better boxer in the ring.
the cut that happen in this fight was not caused by Lewis sustained beating of Vitali but by unfortunate punch

I didn't care who won to be honest at the time when I saw the fight on TV! I had been rooting for Vitali, but even after the stoppage that didn't really say who is the better fighter I applauded both fighters who gave me the fight that I wanted to see! I don't care what would have happened.
I was disappointed by Lennox not giving him a rematch though.

 

Lewis won the fight, Klitschko won the event. It doesn't really matter much because Lewis showed his real colors by not giving him a rematch. Battle of ATG's though.

 

The event of course being a heavyweight title fight, which Lewis won.

I'm going to have to take the medical professional opinion over some guys on ESB. He isn't outboxing Lewis with one eye, and if he carried he very well could have lost sight in it.

The further it went, the worse it was for Vitali, not Lewis.
