Vitaly put in a great fight, but he lost.

Lewis got back in the ring with 2 guys who laid him spark out with one punch. As was shown by timagen, vitaly hit Lewis - the 37 year old at his heaviest ever - with everything he had, and it wasn't enough.

As foreman commented towards the end of the fight, Lewis was fighting like he had absolutely no respect for vitalis power.

Lewis ****ed around with his retirement terribly, no doubt.

If he didn't stop him, why didn't they fight the other 6 rounds?

Because the doctor stopped the fight on the cut.:yep

It isn't as if Lewis beat Vitali until Vitali couldn't fight anymore. Vitali was perfectly willing and expecting to continue as well as more than holding his own.

I can't draw you a picture, but I'll try to explain again as simply as I can; a fighter has until the count of ten to get back to his feet and prove that he can bring his hands to guard. It is not ten seconds.

And no it was not a fast count. Plus, the referee had to catch Lennox to keep him from falling down after McCall separated him from reality.

That definitely was an example of fanboy talk.

Is this one of the most talked about topics ever? Can we stop with this bull**** and just appreciate the fight these two gave to us.

You had me at your avatar.

I heard Lennox ducked her though. Okay, that's it. I'm done.

What is the point, anyway? Old and out of shape Lewis still won the fight, so I do not see why he should aim for rematch.

He had no money problems (and ianyway, if he was interested in $$$, a rematch with Tyson would be probably both more lucrative and safer ). His legacy was solid, and getting another win over the same opponent wouldn't make it much bigger.

"Will you give him a rematch?"
    "If the money's right, yes"

Everyone wanted the rematch, why didn't it happen?

If an out of shape Lewis TKO Vitali in 6 rounds couldn't he train a little harder and KO him in 3-4 rounds in an easy rematch and make a lot of money? You know, like he promised he will.

From what i gather then Lewis Won rounds 5 and 6 which tells me he was starting to time Vitali and from the fight video's he was starting to land the over hand right and vicious uppercuts on the inside.
one more round and Vitali would have never fought again.
He should be happy cause on that night the Doctor saved his Career

    Erm, No

Tyson retired Lewis. After that Lennox knew his legacy was cemented

Vitali fought a Lennox who didn't train and got beat the c**p out of.

Vitali staggered Lewis, really surprised him, Lewis was done when his promoter signaled his doctor to signal his referee to stop the fight without even looking at Vitali's cut, one more round and Lewis would have been knocked out..........Angelo Dundee said that Vitali was cheated out of the WBC title that night. Lewis refused to fight Vitali even for the largest payday of his entire career! Lewis retired rather than be knocked out by Vitali!!!!!!!
