LEWIS TKO6 he ****ed up vitali so bad he had to see a plastic surgeon. HOW MANY STITCHES DID HE NEED? and he still cried at the end.
Haters never see a good fight, even years later...hate blinds. I do admit to having Norton win that 12th round....until I looked at it decades later, on slow mo, three times, then I gave that round to Ali. The best fight to watch is a fight where you don't know either fighter, then you have no rose colored glasses on. Did I mention, I had that fight as 2-2-2, but with the must....4-2. It was a very good fight, and cuts are part of fighting. Of course I did think it a bit unfair to rub your head into a cut....punching at it's ok. Though when Clay showed on TV the new cut jab he learned just for Cooper, as a kid, I thought that unfair too.
It leaves him a bloody mess after 6 rounds. Look what a price vitaly had to pay to win those 4 rounds. So much it left him incapable of continuing. That's not a very sound plan in my eyes. It's like saying you were ahead of usain bolt after 50 meters. Ultimately it means nothing.
I've said and written about this before and will repeat it here: Any reasonable version of Vitali -- including the 38-year-old version that destroyed Sam Peter -- would beat Prime Lennox Lewis 8/10 or 9/10 times. The times when Lewis would win would be because of cuts (as happened in their fight) and if Vitali got injured (as in the Byrd fight). Throw in a couple of statistical fluke wins for Lewis, and that's about all you would get. Lewis beat Vitali the only way he could have in their first fight -- by cuts. This is a bad match-up for Lewis. The truth is, Vitali is a bad head-to-head matchup for just about any heavyweight in history. It's not an accident that he has never "cleanly" lost and fighters like Haye want no part of him. Vitali is particularly a bad match-up for Lewis because he is as large or larger than Lewis yet he has both a better chin and higher workrate than Lewis did. And if you don't think Vitali hurt Lewis, ask Emanuel Steward. Now, I will say this: Older Vitali doesn't have quite the same power Younger Vitali did, due to injuries and surgeries. This would likely give Prime Lewis more courage and would force Vitali to throw and be on the move more during the bout, especially the early part of the fight. However, even Older Vitali has shown he is more than capable of fighting this way. See: Arreola fight. Vitali is very adaptable and can fight multiple ways. The truth is this: Vitali Klitschko is a better fighter than Lennox Lewis. He doesn't have the same 1-punch KO power or resume that Lewis does, but he is a better overall fighter given the entire array of skills and attributes the two men have. Lewis was smart. He took his win and got out. A wise choice, even if it was a divergence from Lewis' original plans. This also bears repeating: Lewis is the only man (of 94 professional boxing opponents) whom one or both of the brothers have fought that they haven't beaten. The writing was on the wall, so to speak. Lewis knew that, and made his decision.
There are so many extreme opinions regarding this fight, there doesn't seem much objectivity. Lewis TKO 6 Vitali that is a fact so Lewis won the fight and deservedly so. It is however not a conclusive win (with Vitali being the better boxer over the first 6 rounds) , it can in no way prove that Lewis was better at the time than Vitali and it in no way proves whether prime Lewis was better than Vitali (as Lewis' prime was a few years earlier and Vitali's a few years after) These types of fights deserve rematches, it is clear Vitali was the best contender to the Heavyweight championship. Lewis decided he felt Vitali was too much of a risk to fight again at their stages of their career so decided to retire. If Lewis felt it right to conclude his career at that time then I have no complaints but his resume would have looked so much better with Vitali's name on his resume for a second time (especially with a conclusive victory) Lewis managed to avenge his two losses unfortunately Vitali hasn't been able to avenge his. Conclusion - inconclusive
The funniest thread Ive read in a while. Some much stupidity, so little time. :roflatsch Lewis TKO6 Vitlay, Vitlay EVT6 Lewis:thumbsup
Vitali took that fight on short notice. I hate the "Lewis was past his prime" argument because that is the EXACT same disadvantage as a fighter who took the fight on short notice. I believe it was only a 2 week notice.
You did read the rest of what was written, right? I'm going to assume "yes," and that this is some kind of attempted 'gimmick with words' ploy on your part.
Look does it really matter that vitali was ahead in their fight??...does NOT prove that vitali is a better fighter....an example, frank bruno was outboxing a very prime lewis...and nearly getting lewis outta there at one point....only to be caught by a wait for it......."classic klitnuthuggers excuse"A LUCKY PUNCH.....which ended it pretty much for frank bruno!......but does that make bruno better than lewis?....even though bruno was beating lewis pretty much hands down..until caught by a"lucky punch" from lewis?...........no it does'nt....At the end of the Day lewis was and always will be better stronger faster moore willpower, better fighter than vitali.....LENNOX LEWIS TKO VITALI IN 6.
