It was a great fight and there should have been a rematch...it would've been huge.
But I believe Lewis, coming in likely a few pounds lighter, and much more prepared for what he'd be dealing with, would've gotten to Vitali again, and possibly sooner.

I will put it this way.......

The impending threat that a rematch with Vitali brought, helped Lewis make his decision to retire.

That's as eloquently as I know how to put it.

In other words..............Lewis was not very confident in himself going into a rematch........

It's a well known fact that Lewis' bought Black doctor stopped the fight after receiving a nod and a wink from Lewis via the Green man (previously known for spiking Wlads water and covering his entire body with Vaseline).

After Lewis cut Vitali with an illegal grazing punch, and continued to make the cuts worse by pushing his razor sharp, illegal dreadlocks into Vitalis' face, Vitali continued to fight on, while being caught by right hands (and being slowly caught on the score cards), and continuing to move forwards on the scorecards of "the event".

Lennox Lewis continued to cheat by actually punching Vitaly in the face, and opening up more cuts via the dreadlocks.

At the end of the sixth round, while applying the apparent legal butterfly tape over vitalys cuts (of course, these were only going to be applied for 10 seconds in order to magically fix the cut), the green man/black doctor signal was put in place, and Vitaly was robbed of his win.

The "event" judges (not the fight judges), gave Vitaly even more points because at the end of sixth round where Lewis was repeatedly landing massive right hands and taking over the fight, the CLEAR EVIDENCE that vitaly was winning the event was the fact Lewis sat down hard on his stool.

As all boxing event watchers know, ripping a mans face off via right hands counts FAR LESS than sitting down on your stool awkwardly.

Of course, Steward realised the horrific consequence of the 'stool sit', and immediately halted the fight.

As we all know, Lewis won the fight on the technical, disputed, reason that within 6 rounds he had punched his opponent so hard, so often, the fight had to be stopped for the other mans health. NOT the main objective of boxing of course.

While Lewis was declared the winner of the fight, Vitaly was declared world undisputed event winner.

As has been clearly shown, Lewis beating vitaly means Lewis could never beat vitaly. That is clear. How can a sane person not see that?

Of course, Vitaly then retired Lewis. Who was retired by Rahman. Making Hasim Rahman world event champion.

So thats how you retire a fighter, by taking punch after punch to the face until the ref stops the fight.

Not true, Vitali is a better boxer and a fighter. His record, utter dominance over every one else, the beating he gave Lewis himself, ko ration, etc. puts him way ahead of Lewis in every department. 40 year old Vitali beats prime Lewis, sorry.
