I'd totally forgotten that World Title bouts were now decided over 6 rounds. Good win that Vitali, up with Lennox's wins on points against McCall 1 and Rahman 1. Great idea is declaring yourself a points victor after you've been stopped.
As the fight was Lewis was starting to get the better of Vitali, he was landing the bigger shots and starting to have success against him, now its well known that both were tired at the end of the round, some say Lewis nearly collapsed on his stool, but i dont think so, i think he would have stopped vitali a few rounds later. I hate all this "what if" talk, because at the end of the day, if Lewis would have come to the fight in shape and motivated then he'd never have struggled, but he didnt, and he still won...the better man won.
He also said that the fight was stopped because he was badly cut, so no he didn't exactly say he "won". All he was saying was that he was ahead on the cards which was true.
It was obvious the cut ****ed Vitali to an extent, but he was winning the fight. Without the cut it was a clear Vitali had Lewis's measure!
Yes and without the knockout Herbie had VITLAYS measure :nut I'm sure you Klit-swingers actually take lessons to sound this ******ed, you must do
If I rememebr correctly LL was turning the tide when the TKO happened... Points were real close when it was stopped. I got to think LL would have won had it continued, cut to shreds or not...
This fight was certainly no KO win to Lennox, it was purely stopped on injury! Most people outside of England considered Vitali had the upper hand bar for the cut. Imagine what a hiding Lennox was up for had the cut not occured. The cut definitely changed the tempo with Vitali.
Yes, he was ahead, but his eyes was a mess. Lennox was beggining to stamp his authority on the fight anyway and I think would have KO'd Vitali late on or won by a wide margin on points. Vitali is just bitter.
