On one hand, Sosnowski is barely top 20.

But on the bright side, Vitali is waiting for a Haye fight. And Sosnowski, if nothing else, is a very fit competitor who has a good punch, and is going to try his best. It's also good (and important) that Vitali stay active.

So while this isn't the best fight in the world, it's a half-decent tuneup. I look at it like I looked at Wlad-Austin.

Except (a) Austin was a mandatory, and (b) Austin would kick Sosnowski's ass. Austin is a LOT better than Sosnowski.

The draw argument cannot work in Piantea favor in any way, and the huge experience and somehow blown up record cannot play against Sosnowski either.

I trully believe Pianeta needs at least one more credible opponent on his resume to be in pair with Sosnowski ... but seriously both of them are definitely below the top 10 of the current contenders and assuming that Sosnowski's title shot is just a lucky then proving that Pianteta deserves his own shot before Sosnowski is just crazy.

I'll laugh if this fight is shown in the States, while Wlad's fight isnt.

Anyone think Sosnowski can even go the distance with Holyfield ?

Sosnowski's one of the worst choices of challenger for WBC heavyweight title ever. He's up there with Peter "who?" Okhello, Lucien "Euro-bum" Rodriguez. Even Scott Frank had better credentials.

Sosnowski lost to Lawrence and what? I dont get it. Sosnowski despite having 48 fights is still learning boxing, he didnt have any amateur fight. Since the time he lost, he had 3 good fights.

Wladimir Klitschko lost to Ross Purity and Bernard Hopkins lost his 1st fight. So if you start judging boxer only by who they lost than you will get very strange things.

how does the draw help Sosnowski any more than it does Pianeta? If anything, with the kind of logic that you're applying here, it should have even greater meaning on Pianeta's behalf, given that you seem to be assigning him a lower status.... ( Pianeta is ranked higher by the way. ) In addition, Zuri Lawrence at 38 years of age and having lost 15 of his pro fights, along with coming off a terrible streak, was probably no better than some of the prospects and journeyman that Pianeta has beaten, and furthermore, Sosnowski LOST to him.... Sorry, but I just don't see this as having more value to Klitschko.... If he fought Pianeta, he'd be facing a 25 years old, 6'5, 230 prospect with a 20-0 record and recent comp that was really no worse than anything that Sosnowski has faced....

I do however agree, that neither of these men are worthy of a shot at Vitali and Pianeta does need more fights against better comp.

Oh ****, are you really going to play the connect the dots game? Sosnowski just beat a totally shot Danny Williams, who in turn beat a totally shot Mike Tyson some 6 years ago.. What the hell kind of relevance does any of this hold?

Actually Lucien Rodriguez held the EBU title and defended it several times. He ended up going the full distance with larry Holmes in 1983 !
    Holmes shoulda retired then.

draw is a draw, cannot play in favor of anyone ... and the draw with
Sosnowski is somehow the best what Pianeta acheived so far.

On the other hand we have 20-0 vs 40-2 ...the pure numbers cannot be even compared ... sure Sosnowski has lose to Lawrence but he is on strong winning track and wins over Williams and Vidoz >> wins over Sprott and Orlov ... 'unbeaten' record with best wins over Sprott are not enough to draw attention of a fly.

    1. Wlad was in his early 20's and had far fewer fights when he gassed in the 11th round of a 12 round fight against Purity, who was far better than Zuri Lawrence was at this stage anyway..

    2. It may be a valid point that Sosnowski had no amateur career, but come on... He's 31 years old and had nearly 50 pro bouts when he lost to a 38 year old Lawrence who had won all but 5 of his last 13 bouts.... I think we can basically sum this up to that fact that if Sosnowski can't fight now, he's never going to..
