Think again. Toney would have been way better opponent than Sosnowski.
Sosnowski is nobody and has defeated no one.
Pulev, Helenius and loads of other European contenders would defeat him easily.

He should be defending EBU title against nobodies while real contenders fight for the WBC title.

Sosnowski's trackrecord doesn't read much worse than Arreolas' or Johnson's, Vitali's most recent opponents.

Don't misunderstand me. I would have loved to see Vitali take on guys like Povetkin, Valuev, Solis, Adamek or Haye. But it all depends on who's willing to go in the ring with him. It seems if you offer some of these guys $1m USD and the chance to take home the legendary green WBC belt most of them say "NO THANKS".

Come on, you wouldn't call a 41 year old James Toney a 'real contender' would you. Sosnowski isn't a world beater, but I'll rate him higher than a washed up Toney.

Biggest Toney's achievement (at HW) was deafeating 41yo Evander Holyfield. I think that Sosnowski deserved more to gain a shot at the title. Not to mention that Toney is 11 years older than Sosnowski.

I am still surprised that Sosnowski gained this fight, but considering that he is a EBU champion I understand this.

Well I like Sosnowski, always comes in shape unlike many other heavyweights, lots of heart and determination, and has come a LONG way since the start of his career, especially with no amateur background and starting boxing farily late. Way too soon for such a fight, however I will be praying for the upset of the decade. lol

    Vitali by KO/TKO.

Vitali is turning in to a big wuss, his last opponents along with sosnowski cant punch, are small and weak. I dont understand why some insists this disgrace is a future hall of famer.
There are guys like Tua out there. But the Klits wont go anywhere near someone with a punch. Plus the top guys wont take the lousy money the greedy klits puts out there.

the klits are turning in to a disgrace to boxing. I almost miss the days when King controlled fighters ruled the division. At least King didnt try to picture himself as boxings good samaritan.....

Well every major sanctioning body disargeers with you.

Toney beating Fress Oquendo is better than anything Sosnowski has achieved.

Sosnowskis best achievements are what? Beating Paolo Vidoz and washed up Danny Williams? Losing to Zuri Lawrence?

He beated complete nobody Paolo Vidoz to get EBU belt.
By no means should it get him to world title shot.

LOL you think Vitali got $1m from Lewis to fight him back in 2003? He got far less, considering he came with little fame and no belt. A contender doesn't fight for the money. He fights for getting the chance of winning the belt and then making his paydays defending it!

Now you say Vitali is greedy? You gotta be kidding me.

He's offering a shot at his WBC belt and $1-$2 million Dollars of cold hard cash to the best opponents out there and nobody wants it! It's just the HW division is full of out of shape fat slobs and guys with no balls. Not Vitali's fault at all.

There's one big reason why the K's are fighting scraps right now... They don't want to fight them, they already lost to them, they are not ready yet, they wan't too much money or they are tangled up already...
Who is there that they didn't try to get a deal with or is good enough to step in with them? :huh

Bull****. Peter and Arreola are both big dudes who can hit. They're not Mike Tyson, but who is? Tell me what big hitter there is in the division that he can fight? Haye is scheduled to fight Ruiz and didn't Vitali last year, even when he took his hat!

Tua & Toney wouldn't lay a glove on Klitschko. They're too small (5'9) to reach him, especially since both have their feet stuck in concrete these days. It would be Lewis-Tua all over again.

Sosnowski is not a great opponent, but given that most are busy (Chambers, Haye, Povetkin) or price themselves out (Valuev), it's a good stay-active fight. Let's not forget that 3 of his last four opponents were ranked in the top5 when he fought, and easily beat, them. I like that he's staying active and fights 3 times a year, instead of fighting once a year against an Okhello like Maskaev. THAT was a farce.

Is the fight singed? Is there still time for Valuev's management to come to their senses?
