Prime Lewis is likely the best historical head-to-head match-up against Prime Vitali, but it still would not be enough.

The two elements that would always favor Vitali over Lewis are workrate and chin. There's a reason why Lewis never made the rematch, despite saying he would do so.

What's funny about Vitali-Lewis is that when Lewis fought Vitali, everyone thought Wlad was the better or "scarier" brother of the two Klitschkos.

Lewis found out for himself that wasn't true. Lewis would have had a much easier time against Wladimir.

Prime Lewis was amazing. Size, power, speed, real skill. The weakness was the chin.

Prime Vitali was like an athletic Margarito on growth hormone. Insane workrate, granite beard and big power. Of course, Vitali was much more athletic than Margarito.

I've seen a lot of fights over many decades. I've said it before and I will repeat it again now: Vitali is probably the most dominant fighter I've ever seen. He barely even lost rounds and he really didn't slow down until well after 40 years old.

There aren't many heavyweights who would have stayed upright after that atomic Lewis uppercut in the 6th. Lol The sound it made too! I bet even Lewis was like "WTH! How is this guy still up in my face?!"

I think you massively missed the point - but thats fine, I realise there are a lot of blinkered people on this site. To reiterate - anyone thats gets hit hard enough and with sufficient speed and accuracy is going down. It happened to Vlad in that kickboxing matchup against a good but not brilliant kickboxer, and it can happen to anyone in boxing, and that includes AJ and Klitschko himself.

"I REALISE there are a lot of blinkered people on this site." Wow... you can say that again. And that's not 'Vlad' getting heel kicked, that's Vitali there professor. And my point is a spinning heel kick is WAY different than a punch with 8-10oz gloves. Bottom line is Vitali was never dropped by a punch. But we all know AJ has been separated from his senses by punches. COULD it happen? Sure! But the odds of it happening to Joshua seem to already be higher.

lol....yes, you clown. I know its Vitali. This thread is about Vitali and Joshua. Why would I be talking about Wlad, when everyone knows already that he's as chinny as Joshua?

yes that pizza face did indeed take time for lewis to recover from, well pointed out.

if not for the shock of pizza face, lewis would have ended it 2 rounds sooner, glad u agree.

The same uppercut didn't knock a shake out of 210 pound Ziko Mervoic. And he took a lot more of them than Vitali did.

The laws of physics say Mercer took same uppercut only 10x more powerful due to his height. He kept coming and coming in fight that deserved to be ruled a draw.
Vitali reacted worse out of almost everybody lewis tagged with an uppercut. Vitali did as good as Tommy Morrison did. At least Morrison fought an excellent version of Lewis. Vitali fought the WORST version :icon_domokun:

Hey dummy , Margarito could actually hit moving targets . Vitali couldn't hit a guy on the move with a hand full of salt.

Against Kingpin Johnson he laboured over 12 rounds and looked like an un-coordinated buffoon. His finial punch stat was an atrocious 298 / 1013.
Do you have any idea how bad that connect percentage is against a bum like Johnson?

He had the same shocking connect rate against Byrd. He could barely hit a non heavy laying up against the ropes doing a second rate rope -a- dope impression. No wonder he blew his shoulder out.
apparently he got injured again when Chisora banged him around the ring from pillar to post.
What does it take for him to be dominant?
Adamek? Whose best days were at light heavy weight? :risas3:

    Arroela? Sam Peter? Who else??
In Klitcsho land beating Arroela means you are the most dominant fighter in heavy weight history. :dancing:

This thread is pathetic and many of the posts are childish. I feel like I've stepped into a school playground. So much hate flying around about brave guys that step through the ropes to entertain us. Calling Lennox a coward.....is that for real? He should have sailed off after the Tyson fight. Vitali wasn't even part of his generation. There's always going to be a new guy calling out the old guy. That's just how it is. A champion will never clear his plate before retiring. Lennox was done for. Come on fellas, an old champ, shot reflexes, out of shape (his fault) found himself in an epic battle and gave it his all. It was a fitting way to sign off and I'm sure Vitalis brother would take a similar sign off in his final fight. That is not a coward. The signs were there from the Tyson fight. Mentally he struggled to get up for fights. Vitali was a good champion and I give him props but a prime Lewis would have taken care of business.

This mythical matchup doesn't make any sense. AJ has done very little so far. There are many unanswered questions about him. It's all guesswork and you have to side with VK because we know everything about the guy. Bringing up old amateur footage proves little. Lewis and Bowe and many other good/great fighters suffered stoppages as amateurs. Perhaps AJ's chin is glass, perhaps not. Let's give him a chance to prove it. Hopefully April 2017 will tell us more.

I'd agree that its common sense to pick Vitali at this stage , but Joshua already looks a much better boxer than Vitali ever did. Vitali did lots of things wrong and made lots of easily exploitable mistakes.
Still, him winning at this stage is the logical prediction. Got no problem people picking Vitali , but then you get the Tards and their fangasms about Vit being an unbeatable God who'd crush any HW in history with absolute ease. :drooling:

Lets come back in a few years after Joshua will have either proved himself as the real deal or a hype job. Josha has plenty more time to prove himself. Vitali can't improve on his very average resume.

Berol = esb's most stupid poster
    Dino = slavophobe

Past prime Lewis was increasingly figuring prime Vitali out and brutally damaged Vitali's face, TKO6.
Prime Lennox Lewis would've done more damage. There's just no other reasonable conclusion (unless Lewis gets cocky and gets KO'd, Rahman style).
