No, me criticizing his ability of boxing, and his style, is not same as me saying things personally about his character.

    Come on man.

I am attacking his boxing skills. Not him on personal level.

Wlad is a great sportsman, he is kind, professional, doesn't trash talk, etc.. that's not the subject. I give him 10/10 on that... Even his training and his ethics.

Again, i am speaking about his clinching.

First off, I don't think he's exponentially more skillful than his brother. I do think however he's become more skilled over the years, and is IMO a much more complete fighter now. He's become a solid all around fighter as far as offense, defense, and ring generalship.

I think his improvement in skill is primarily from his in ring experience for the last 10 years. He has a very boring style, but he's learned how to fight at a distance using his jab, clinch properly and throw intermittent hooks. I don't think he's more fluid than his brother, nor do I think he even utilizes combination punches as well either, but he fights in a safer manner than his brother and I think he's kind of programmed himself to be like that from him being knocked out a couple times earlier in his career.

He doesn't take the kind of chances Vitali takes in order to get guys out of there. He knows if he tries to open up a little too much, he's susceptible to getting nailed with some shots himself.

He fights much differently than he did back when he was getting knocked out. He has a lot of ring smarts, he is very judicious with his punching, and he doesn't look for the knockout. He's dominated everyone since 2005-06. Now his style might not be aesthetically pleasing, but skills wise he knows how to get the job done without getting much damage inflicted on him.

Now H2H, I think Vitali would knock him out. But I also think Wladimir would do pretty well in the early rounds against him until he starts taking flush shots from his brother. It would be one the few fights in his career where he doesn't have a size or strength advantage on his opponent.

Vitali is by FAR the more entertaining fighter but skillswise, I think Wladimir is at worst case on par with his brother now.

He had him on roller skates for a few seconds & was REALLY FORCED to hold on to recover. Plus, not fighting in Germany showed what a REAL REF WOULD DO BC OF HIS HOLDING TACTICS. After the point deduction, Wlad was concerned, had to fight & not hold & I thought for sure he was gonna gas again like against Brewster.

    thanks for the post.

First, you mentioned that Wlad is now a complete fighter, or became a complete fighter.
What complete fighter does not have, the list i mentioned, such as uppercut, jab to the body, inside game, and plan A,B, C (as does Vitali)

When the tough gets tough, Wlad does NOT adapt well and doesn't seem to have a good game plan in case things change.

Part of being ring smart, is to adapt to your opponent, and be able to adapt to different styles. Vitali mastered that, but being able to nullify his opponent that:
    rushed at him
    were short
    were tall
    were aggressive
    were punching bags.

Vitali did, and he has the better ring smart.

Sorry, i do not agree with you.

I feel that my arguments in this case proves that Wlad is NOT better skilled that Vitali and its the other way arround.

OK, maybe not roller skates, but the few times Jennings landed somewhat solid, the look on Wlads face was like he was just hit with a pie (concerned)...&...immediately started holding.

Like I said, he's NO ATG & if he wasn't a giant, would have been just an average HW & probably never Champ. At least not as long as he has been Champ.

Ok man, sounds like you see what you want to see. Wlad is very sorry for being born a big man and using it to his advantage. Lennox and Vitali are sorry too. So are Ali and Foreman.

Ali wasn't as big as those others you mentioned.

Sure, its not Wlads fault he's a giant, but because he is, don't you think he should have destroyed Jennings???

    :hi:
Rums, what did you think of Wlads performance vs Jennings? He has more conventional skills than Vitali who is unorthodox. But I still see Wlad as a nobody if not for his size.
