So what was the story behind that? To me it looked like Klitschko landed a grazing punch that somehow made Solis' legs go wobbly. Solis went down, seemed to injure his right knee in the process then he stood up while both legs were still jittery from the effects of the punch. I don't think Solis took a dive though. I'm just not sure how much the knee injury had to do with the end result.
yes, vitali punch started it, knocked solis's equilibrium off. therefore causing solis to reinjury himself again from a bad knee
It was a farce. Basically Solis was too fat and his knees couldn't support his body weight. Honestly I was really anticipated for the fight too. I rated Solis highly in the HW division during that time. What a shame.
Solis had some success in the first 2 minutes, a couple of good counter attacks. If he had less weight, that knee injury wouldn't happen and maybe Solis could have given good test to Vitali. We never saw the best Solis.
It was pretty clear in the replay. He got hit, went down, and then his knee snapped in a horrific way due to his clearly overweight body
I remember there were rumors before the fight Solis had worsened a lingering injury in his knee in camp. No fight, no payday. I believe the fight shows exactly that.
Jim Watt was brilliant on this fight After 20 replays he was still attributing the "KD" to Vitali's power
Solis was having some success prior to the stoppage. Not enough to win the round but enough to suggest he was going to be a live opponent. But he was never going to be able to maintain that due to his poor physical shape. Vitali then clipped him with what seem like an innocuous shot but it seemed to land on the temple and that was enough to drop Solis. The fall seemed to injure Solis' knee and he was not able to continue. The ease with which Solis went down suggests he was never going to go the distance and I can't see him out pointing Vitali with his sporadic work and it's going to take a sustained assault to stop Vitali not single shots now and again. The ease with which Solis was injured and the injuries he's suffered since suggests he's a fragile fighter now, you can't abuse your body like he has and partake in a professional sport and expect your body to be OK.
Solis was winning the round. He was a fat ass though. His knee couldn't control the shift in inertia and it gave in. Totally disappointing fight. Solis has talent. A 220 pound Solis could probably be champ.
Vitali must have some kind of ninja skill to make opponents fat. More or less same thing happened with Kirk Johnson except Johnson didn't injure his knee.
