vitali too old at 37 and rusty 4 peter????

I hate to hear he plans on only fighting one fight, then that's it.

But given how much attention and press he'll get for beating Peter like a rented mule, cold, after so much time out of the ring.....I expect Vitali to fight on, as he'll see how much he missed all the hoopla that comes with fighting on this level.

He'll fight on. :good I expect to see him try to get Valuev (after Valuev beats Ruiz) in the ring and unify the WBC and WBA titles.

 

Exacltly. As I've said before, he knows to gauge himself, and he'll be well aware of it, if his reflexes and power is no longer there.

If he were lacking as some think he will be, I doubt he'd take the chance to comeback.

He'll only step through the ropes if he knows he's on par with what he once was. If he were feeling he's slipped, he would most certianly take a tuneup, first. So him taking Peter, first out of the gate, tells me that he is confident that he's got it, still. :good

 

I don't think that Peter even has to knock Vitali out to win, I think that the most likely outcome would be Vitali suffering some form of injury and not being able to finish the fight.

 

vitali is too smart not to come ready. if this fights ever comes off, i predict a night of pain for Peter. stylistically, this is a perfect fight for vitail. vitali's size and chin will negate much of peter's effective power. peter gives u a boatload of chances to land a counter...vit is an excellent counter-puncher especially with the uppercut, peter's weakness...well that and late night ice-cream runs

It'll be interesting to see whom backs up whom, when Vitali and Peter square off.

Vitali backed up some against Corrie Sanders, but Sanders has very fast hands, as well as brutal power.

Peter does not. I am curious to see who is the aggressor in this one.

I am amazed at how effective his lean back defense is against Sanders in that clip. And also, with how fast Vitali's counter punches are, given that he is so big.

I'm picking Vitaly to beat Peter, but maybe he should have set up a tune up fight first.

 

What's the point of coming back for one fight? Maybe he' s just saying that so he doesn't look too bad should he lose.

 

If Vitali makes it to the ring, he will destroy Peter. After this fight, all the talk and hype about Peter will be over for good.

I take a 2004 version of Vitali Klitschko over Peter any day.
But now, at age 37, after that many injuries and a 4 year lay-off, fighting a top HW without even taking a tune-up first - I just can't see Klitschko winning. Not a very smart fight for him to take. Maybe he should get back in the fight routine again by fighting a couple of journeymen first.
If he does win this fight tho, it will be like a miracle for his career. He'd go from just being a very good HW to being a special one.
I don't believe he can make it through training camp injury-free anyways, and it's maybe better for him that way.

 

i really hope vitali beats peter down. peter sucks. he talks **** about wlad but his two biggest wins were against toney and maskaev both of whom were waaaaaay past shot and to be totally honest, old as ****. even if peter wins wlad will beat him in the rematch or haye will take him out. peter sucks

 

I don't know about too old...but I still think he should've taken a tune-up fight.

It's always felt like a one-and-done shot at getting that famed Klitschko Dream (tm) covered.

Arguably, a Vitali win not only overshadows Wlad's hard work in regaining the spotlight (only for big bro to snatch it away again) but leaves us with a vacant belt if he then retires again...more logjam in the WBC.
