Yea I was hoping just about everyone had the "stop the fight" mindset that was actually apart of the fight, and not just us onlookers. And you made a good, but sad, point on Briggs' corner. It makes alot more sense now.
Finkel was allegedly deeply involved in the "problem" resulting in shannon getting 25k out of 750k see http://www.boxingrepublic.com/2011/...h-vitali-klitschko-hopes-to-win-court-battle/ sounds a lot like shannon's own fault for not getting his own lawyer and letting these snakes do what they do (screw people)
Shannon Briggs Loses Ring Battle with Vitali Klitschko, Hopes to Win Court Battle By Dan Hernandez Shannon Briggs, former heavyweight champion of the world and recent recipient of a brutal beating in a title attempt against Vitali Klitschko, has filed a lawsuit against his former promoter and alleged business partners. Briggs claims he was only paid $25,000 from the agreed upon $750,000 purse he was to be paid for the Klitschko mauling on October 16, 2010. Briggs spent twelve days in a German hospital recovering from the beating absorbed. The complaint was filed last week with the New York County Clerks office. In the complaint, it is alleged that the defendants, The Empire Sports & Entertainment Holdings Company and its principals were in breach of fiduciary duty, for conversion, for unjust enrichment and for breach of contract. One of the principals of Empire Sports is well-known boxing manager and concert promoter, Shelly Finkel. When asked about the allegations, Mr. Finkel reportedly said that he had not seen the complaint and referred to the allegations as being ridiculous. The complaint states, Shannon Briggs and one of the defendants, Gregory D. Cohen, formed an interest called Golden Empire, LLC, on November 30, 2009. Briggs claimed that he acquired a 50% stake in the company and was to be paid a salary or compensation in exchange for using his expertise and contacts to persuade boxers to sign promotional agreements with the company. Briggs also claims his services included introducing Cohen and Finkel to Major Players in the world of entertainment. It is also alleged that in January, 2010, defendant Barry Honig became an investor in Golden Empire and that Honig assured Briggs his investment would be used to further develop the company as well as continuing to pay the boxer his salary. In addition, the complaint states Cohen and Honig incorporated The Empire Sports and Entertainment Company as a successor to the business of Golden Empire. This occurred in February 2010 and Briggs has claimed that he was assured at that time by Gregory Cohen that his ownership interest had not been compromised and that there had simply been a name change to the company. Contrary to this belief, Briggs complaint states the formation of the new business was in fact to dilute his ownership interest in the business that had theretofore been conducted by Golden Empire. All of Golden Empires assets and liabilities as well as Briggs promotional contract are said to have transferred over to the new entity, The Empire Sports and Entertainment Company. Other claims were made by Briggs, forgery among them and concluded with the $750,000 purse decimated to only $25,000 when Briggs was told the compensation he had been paid by the companies since the formation of Golden Empire actually represented advances. The complaint also states the defendants told Briggs they were entitled to recoup the advances from his purse as well as the bills associated with his hospitalization resulting from injuries sustained during the fight. The decision on this matter is now up to the courts and the parties involved, however, one cant help but wonder what would have happened had Briggs won the fight.
Lennox gets a prime Briggs out of there in 5, what, 11 years ago? Not a very good win at all for Vitali; if anything, it highlights how weak a heavyweight champion he is.
Sounds more like a bad business decision on the part of Briggs, but I could be wrong. Obviously I'm not privy to the finer details of any contract Briggs signed......................
:rofl Some of the haters will go to extreme lengths to flip history in their own minds.................. Prime example up above.
I am wrong. It was more than 11 years, wasn't it? Was it 1997? So 14 years passed between Briggs being sparked by Lennox and him going 12 rounds with Vitali. Res ipsa loquitur :deal
Lennox was a great fighter, so? Shannon also had Lennox hurt early, and literally turning his back & running away didn't he? That's right, he did. I don't recall Shannon hurting Vitali or making him turn around & run away. When comparing the 2 fights you must include all information for the slackers who are too lazy or too stupid to do their homework.
Shannon has been known to make this deal, that deal, back to this deal...etc.... while I feel bad for shannon..... who knows what his partnership deal was/is
"Klitschko Highlights" is an oxymoron. If any of you have trouble sleeping watch Wlad vs Ibragimov :dead
Vitali is 39 years old. How old was Lennox when he fought Briggs? Hell, Lennox said no mas when he got to Vitali's age the guy is still fighting.
