I don't see, how a horrific once-in-a-career facial injury reflects negatively on Vitali's durability. It's not like we can expect this to happen in every other dream-fight we put him in. If we're talking about someone like, say, Alan Minter… yes, then we can argue that his susceptibility to cuts reflects badly on his overall "durability" (even though he actually had a pretty sound chin!). But I don't see, how such a case can be made for Vitali.
Fair enough. No one WOULD beat everyone in history, but a few could beat any man any given night. I think Vitali could beat Ali and Lewis, and would beat Holyfield. You might see Vitali as one of the best 15 of all time, I say best 8. I agree with your points on Dempsey, but I think he would have beaten Wills.
Well crazy as it seems for a Frazier guy I wouldn’t bet a dime with great odds on Frazier vs Vitali (Marciano as well). When I did my top 20 h2h thread I had Frazier Vitali and Marciano in the same record ball park....but I would think style and size favors Vitali over both of them. But I would like to be wrong and hope everyone disagrees
based on his bst effort beatnig fat sam peter and a retiree from hlyfields erawho couldnt get a shot when prime. funny thing is if Ali or Holyfields best effort were a retired failed to land a shot guy, or sam pter, you'd write them off immediately. but because its vitalis best, it means he beats anyone. LOL
I think both chop the giant down with their workrate, especially over 15 rounds (which is where all of my hypothetical H2Hs take place)
Dempsey is all wrong for Vitali. Chris Byrd had Vitali bamboozled after the first couple of rounds with his crouching and Byrd is a very sloppy fighter compared to Dempsey. Vitali gets put on his back. Wlad in my opinion has a much better chance against Dempsey.
The problem is that the semi-retired, old Willard was nothing close to special. So we really don't know HOW special Jack was that day. He certainly wasn't very special a year later against Brennan. Vitali KO11
Dempsey would crap Vitali up going in to the ring .Dempsey to me had the same kill or be killed mentality as Nigel Benn ,and Klitschko would pick up on that before the fight even starts. A nervous Vitali attempts to tie Jack from the first round .He'd have success for a good while but Dempsey s attacking puts pressure on him that the big man s never experience d before .It really is a case of jack the giant killer ,has Klitschko is battered to a standstill .Klitschko's spirit is broke and he loses by a unanimous points loss .
I got to ask u a question Seamus Buddy. From Sullivan right up to ..let's say young Cassius ,can you honestly see any other Champ dropping Willard of 1919 as many time's as Jack did ? Cos I'm being honest and I can't ..
What are you talking about Ferguson? Since when has Vitali being afraid or nervous of anyone? He didn’t show any sighs against power punching monsters like Lewis and Sanders so you really think he would be cowering from a sub 200 pound 6’1 hobo? Dempsey attacking him with the same disregard and openness that he did against lumbering oaf Willard, would just be playing into Vitali hands or rather his fists. I can see Vitali just picking him off from range and I would be confident of Vitali’s chin withstanding Jack’s punch better or at least as well as Dempseys chin can withstand his punches.
Ha, you wait till he hears what you been saying about him, he’ll be coming to the uk after you like the guy Liam Neeson played in Taken.
