So why did Lewis retire without answering all those questions when he stated he wanted a rematch with Vitali?

you deduce that you struck a nerve from him typing 4 letters that concisely describe the fight?

it would appear actually that its you who overreacted by typing out a whole post.

It was Lewis that took the fight on short notice. He went in there and basically winged it yet still won. Vitali had been training and preparing to fight Lewis in the 12 months leading up to the fight. -. The fact he was on the verge of taking Lewis to court proves that.

Is that so? Then how come you claimed Antony Joshua can't get any better? He has only had 19 fights. Vitali had 34 fights. He had double the experience Joshua had.

According to you , a 28 year old , 18 fight Joshua is all he's ever going to be , but 32 year old Vitali at 34 fights is still learning.
People shouldn't listen to anything you have to say.

Vitali and Lewis took the fight on less than two weeks notice when Lewis's scheduled opponent pulled out injured.

Lewis was scheduled to fight one time John Ruiz victim Kirk Johnson while Vitali was scheduled to fight then undefeated prospect Cedric Boswell on the same card.

Both had full camps for the same date for fights against vastly inferior opposition. Vitali had no less time to prepare to fight Lewis in 2003 than Lewis had.

    Never been proven.

Yet Lewis landed with more accuracy than Vitali. According to Compubox, Lewis landed 43% of his jabs compared to Vitali's 32%, 49% of power punches compared to Vitali's 41%, and 46% of total punches thrown compared to Vitali's 36%. Even if Vitali was hard to hit there is no getting away from the fact that Lewis was clearly the more accurate puncher and had more success on the night.

The last four round were evenly shared on the cards and Lewis looked stronger in the 6th before the doctor stopped it. Even if Lewis was tired he was putting together the more effective offense.

Lewis had no motivation after he beat Tyson and was only after easy paydays before he retired. He should never have hung around and I do criticise him for it.

Lewis retired before Vitali fought Sanders because Vitali's fight against Sanders was for the belt Lewis vacated.

And Frank Bruno - who was ahead on the cards before he was stopped - and Ray Mercer - who lead on the cards after 6 rounds.

Saying TKO6 is better than KO2 or KO5 is a sure fire way to make Vitali look bad.

You might as well just say "Look at McCall and Rahman! With one punch they both beat younger, hungrier version of the champion my guy couldn't even knock of his feet! Isn't Vitali great?"

Douglas is about two inches shorter than Tucker regardless. And Tyson & Norris were certainly smaller men. Tucker was tall and tough, but not that efficient as a technician.

And Lewis and Vitali were still considerally heavier, 20 to 30 pounds. And dont give me the Lewis was fat crap because he had an 8 pack abdominal against Vitali and was pretty ripped overall.

I think Douglas and Tucker were quicker on their feet, and more traditionally technical, but strategically inferior.

Couldn't be bothered. Was scared he would get hurt. Had started using recreational drugs. Got strong consistent advice from those around him. Nobody knows, unless you want to believe Lewis, which I think you probably don't.

But it doesn't matter. He felt it was the right time for him. He knows himself better than anyone. He was entitled. Don't see the problem or understand the question that have always surrounded this.

Or more likely didn't want a piece of Vitali again and had serious doubts about wether he could beat him again.

Well I think I covered that off in "he was scared."

But say he was seriously doubtful he could beat Vitali. Didn't feel it.

Then he definitely, definitely made the right decision.

It's not about being scared it's about thinking of your legacy, it's much better protected not giving Vitali the rematch.

It is largely irrelevant why he chose to retire.

He was not answerable to anybody else in the matter.

No but he was the one saying he wanted a rematch when he clearly didn't want any part of Vitali again.

You've met Douglas several times? Do you train at his gym or something? It's cool if you'd rather not say, I'm just curious.
