I agree, he has to realize that this kind of performance is not going to cut it at the top level. He needs to come down in weight if he wants to be competitive at the top. He looked mediocre last night when he was supposed to look spectacular because it was the preamble to the biggest fight of his career.

In all honesty its hard to tell. I would've never guessed that Arreola would be able to sustain so much punishment but he did. With Solis I have no idea but all I know is that it will be a highlight performance by Vitali.

Yes I did. You think Solis is tougher than Arreola, got your point, just don't understand that?
    Unless I missed something?

Dont get me wrong I'm not saying Solis is tougher than Arreola all I'm saying is that its hard to tell if its going to be a 1st round KO, Mid rounds KO, or just complete punishment through 12 rounds. I do know that it will be a highlight performance by Vitali.

Actually. I see more of Solis quitting on his stool after 7-8 rounds of pure punishment. Solis seems the type to me that would rather quit then go out on his shield. Maybe im wrong.... but so many others have quit on the stool against vitali, I see Solis as another

I can't give my 2 cents or vote since I didn't watch the fight yet. From some of the writings on boxing sites about the fight, they make it seem as though Solis just dominated Austin with accurate shots and landing some good combos. But here on ESB, I'm reading that Solis was slow, sloppy, and just looked bad.

Are these writers just hyping up the next fight against Vitali or are the fellow ESBers just being overly critical on the Cuban cuz he's overweight?

    In a boxing match, Klitschko
In a pie eating contest, Solis

The writers are either hyping Solis, are just biased.

This was the first fight I had seen live of Solis...and seeing how many people were saying that he would give Wlad and/or Vitali trouble, I was expecting to see some good work out of him.

Yes, there were a couple times in the fight were Solis put some combos together, but overall we are talking a few seconds out of 10 full rounds. What I saw was a plodder with above average, but not blazing hand speed, and no footwork. Power perhaps average, as he couldn't even get Austin out of there after knocking him down.

Austin (who was KO'd in 2 by Wlad, with Wlad only using one hand!) also made Solis miss badly several times, as Solis was throwing wide looping shots. Solis was better than Austin last night, but not by a lot. Solis was up by 1, maybe 2 points. He was the best of the worst.

In other news, when Solis heard it was a DQ, he got really excited, and asked "Where's my Dilly Bar?".

Austin made the fight look more worse with the excessive holding. Solis could have done the job if he came down 7 or 8lbs more. The fight was a little bit loony toons at the end, and Solis was laughing is ass off over the ridiculous dq...
