Your right about that... If I handled Chris, there's no way he'd get this fight right now. Not only is he pretty much the number 1 American... he's also f---ing Mexican! Chi Ching! $$ Keep building the hype... with that latino fan base out there... there's alot of money to be made there before rolling the dice with Vitali. A loss is one thing... But VK seems to put a real nasty, prolonged beating on most guys. Not good for your golden goose.
Good. After Chris knocks out McCline he should get a title shot. Although 10 - 15 pounds overweight people seem to forget just how big and powerful Arreola really is. He can be very fast and explosive, but the big difference is Chris throws good combos for such a big dude. At 6' 4" and at least 240 I don't see Chris having a hard time getting inside on Vitali, pivoting and throwing close rapid combinations. If he can't get the job done within 6 rounds Vitali should be able to weather the storm and pull out a win, but I see big time problems for Vitali in the opening rounds if this fight is actually made.
This fight will boil down to Vitali getting that jab going, if he can get that jab going early with any frequency he can out box his way to a UD, I do not see a Kayo for Vitali in this fight, its not his style to go out there and rush you like that. However if he gets that same Jab he had with Gomez, in which he paws with it, that is big trouble for VK, Chris will not respect that jab because there just isnt anything on it, and Chris will then be able to counter with Combonation punching. The way I see this fight, Basicly its Chris's fight, he has the amatuer experience, he has youth on his side, he can crack, he throws nice sharp combonations and he works the **** out of the body, a very bad match up for VK IMHO, but if VK takes the fight I have nothing but respect, Arreola is going to sooner or later be a Heavyweight Champion. IMO Arreola can beat all the title holders.
I definitely agree. However the way I see it, Chris isn't just going to be broken down by the Vitali jab the way Peter and Gomez were even if he comes in snapping it out like the old days. Chris is quicker handed than his recent competition and likes to fight keeping his hands up. Chris' defense is actually pretty good. And with Vitali dropping his hands near his waist after 2 - 3 rounds as we've seen in his last two fights as long as Chris can get inside I see big problems for Vitali. Peter was too short to get inside and only headhunted. Gomez was to small and tried to push his way inside to get to Vitali. I don't see Chris having as many problems as these guys had. Add that up with Chris being hungry right now (and no not for burritos!) I see a very interesting and surprising outcome to this matchup.
Maybe all the Mexicans in California? Just a guess..................:yep :rofl I bet that fight sells very well. :deal
It is probably a better fight than Maskaev, but barely. Arreola would probably be thrashed as fast as Maskaev would, but he is undefeated, so there is a bit of uncertainly about how fast he'd be taken out. Whereas with Maskaev, we KNOW he'll be taken out rather quickly. Arreola is not worth wasting a fight on, but, Vitali has to fight someone, asn he's merely trying to appease the fans. Gotta give him credit for trying to pick somene whom the fans want to see him fight. Even though personally, I don't want to see it be that bum, Arreola LOL. At least VK's intent is good.
It's also a chance for an American of Mexican decent to win the HW Championship, of course it would sell in LA or anywhere in California.
I would much rather see Vitali vs. Valuev or Chagaev for unification but those guys want no part of Dr. Ironfist.
Who else is there? I'd rather see Briggs get the fight. He don't deserve it, but he is as deserving as Arreola is, having only beaten Walker.......Period. Or Dimitrenko. Very big guy who is undefeated and has beaten better opposition than Walker,, I would say. Arreola hos not yet earned anything, other than HBO's support...........that lard assed bum won't last long enough for everyone to get to their seats.
What does Briggs have that makes him more deserving than Arreola? Faded name value? I'm sorry but that's pretty ridiculous IMO. Briggs hasn't fought in god knows how long and stunk up the arena both nights. Dimitrenko is a decent ption but better opposition? Who? Timo Hoffman? Malcom Tann? A faded Luan Krasniqi? Neither guy has much in the way of resume...but Arreola has a large latin fanbase and as you said, HBO support. Not just that but he's 1000x more exciting than Dimitrenko.
Vitali vs. Arreola would probably be more exciting but less technical if you know what I mean :yep Not that I'm against the more exciting fight either, but I can appreciate both types of fight. Dimitrenko is a fundamentally sound fighter with a good jab & decent power. Vitali is a great counterpuncher with awkward angles, that could be very interesting.
