Vitali was found to have taken a medical steroid for an injured leg. Vitali admitted to taking the medical steroid, as his doctor prescribed it for him to aid in the healing of his broken leg. This is a very common practice. Vitali admitted that he simply wasn't aware that it was illegal for him to take a medical steroid prescribed by his doctor for an injury... which wasn't even at the Olympics... and wasn't a daily regimen of anabolic steroids that he was currently on. It was a simply matter of their still being traces of it in Vitali's system. It was a random drug test that was given at the time when Vitali was trying to recover from the injury. A lot of people have the misconception that it was during the Olympics or something. He was simply banned from taking part in the upcoming Olympics due to the results of that test. On the same note... Wladimir was given the same random drug test and passed with Flying colors... as did Vitali every other time that he was tested in his amatuer and pro careers.... yet people like to dismiss that fact... and half of those people still accuse Wlad of being on steroids.
This situation really raised the bar though I have a feeling it always would have been out of reach for you.
Ahhh...The James Toney defense. Bottom line: He tested positive for an illegal substance.:deal Wlad passed "with flying colors" huh? What, did he get an A+? Don't try to church that **** up. He passed the tests and there were NO flying colors.:bart
Wlad never tested positive of anything. He won olympic gold in 1996 in Atlanta (USA) and passed all test as an amateur and pro.
