In no particular order Tyson Ali Liston Foreman Wlad Lewis Holyfield Patterson Louis Marciano Tunney Holmes Dempsey Frazier Walcott Charles Johnson Bowe Charles Langford There's 20 for you, all of whom have more impressive resumes than Vitali, amongst other achievements. If you disagree I'm sure pretty much all the classic forum could set you straight.
No it's because I'm a fan of boxing, especially HW boxing & the Klits rule the Heavys. Deal with it douche bag...............
I did just that, in another thread, which you are also trolling. Go seek it & you shall find. You may learn something...............
I am a huge Tunney fan (my #2 ATG LHW/although I would pick Loughran to beat him!)...so his 4 HW fights give him a better resume and earn him a higher ranking than Vitali???
resume/accomplishment can be proven and we can use that to develop a criteria for comparing boxing of one era against another.....meaning we use facts that can be proven... Hypothetical drivel is nonesense.....Ali never loses a hypothetical fight nor does SRR...yet they managed to lose in real life. What you find conclusive, may not be shared by me and again countered by another... For my money Frazier is the best H2H HW ever (I would only pick Foreman & Liston to beat him and call Louis a toss-up)....I am sure yours differs...we are on shakey ground that cannot be proven...anyone who uses this as a criteria for greatness has an agenda, or a lack of substantial knowledge (Not meaning you particularly) in evaluating different eras.
He beat Dempsey, no-one on Vitali's resume gets anywhere near that, except Lewis of course. I'd take him over Vitali on that alone without considering his achievements at LHW. Besides, I could easily replace Tunney with Norton or a number of other fighters under different criteria.
If we're talking pound for pound amongst HWs I'd go for Ali with Frazier not too far behind, but outright No 1 is Lewis in my book. Too big, too strong, and too skilled for the smaller guys of previous eras. I'm not saying size is everything, but Lewis was just as skilled as other ATGs and had his physical advantages as well.
