Curious that boxrec would rate him only one place and six points above Henry Cooper. One would think actually winning a world title and successfully defending it for years would put him far above a fighter who never managed more than a Commonwealth and European belt.
Funny because the closest thing Vitali fought to those guys was Lewis. The old Lewis who smashed his face in and retired. Vitali beating Bowe is laughable, Bowe would **** him up more than Lewis did
That's awesome! Lennox Lewis got his ass kicked and sent into retirement by the #38 heavyweight of all time.
I think you've been mopping the floors at jizz world to long. But getting back boxing....do you find it humiliating Vittles quit against the 102nd ranked heavyweight?
That sounds about right. Even if he "should" be ranked higher, he has no business being in the top 10 as some fanboys on here will claim
If there was 4 belts and a ring belt (5) then Cooper would be there as well. Lets face it you only have to be top 15 rated to have a title these days , was cooper rated there- YES Does a paper WBO or WBC belt make a man better- NO On the same token would Vitali crush Cooper and is the boxrec ranking garbage- YES My question is why do we pay such attention to a boxrec computer and fights they announce that dont happen ? They have a great database full of logs thats fantastic the rest is just a system, take it for what it is.
Boxrec? It's a useful tool, but when comparing ATG rankings it's as good as useless. Simply put periods in which fighters fought more frequently reward more points - in the depression or post world war II periods where there were hundreds of guys who basically had no business in the ring, a computerised scoring system grants vast points for fighting guys who happened to be slightly tougher than your average guy off the street or demobed army guy. The fallout from this earlier period impacts boxrec rankings as late as the 70s or early 80s as the 'win points' are passed on.
Not saying you're wrong as I believe their system has many flaws, but why didn't it effect Lewis who had less fights than Vits, or Holyfield who had more losses?
maybe they counted his inactivity before retirement against him -- removing points from his active total as whatever timeframe they count expired, and then when he retired it just stays at what it finishes at ?
